BANDIMERE SPEEDWAY TO HOST FINAL NHRA NATIONAL EVENT IN 2023 AS FAMILY LOOKS FOR NEW LOCATION TO CONTINUE LEGACY

Last NHRA national event at facility will be Dodge Power Brokers NHRA Mile-High Nationals on July 14-16 during track’s 65th anniversary season

MORRISON, CO – NHRA and the Bandimere family have jointly announced that the 2023 Dodge Power Brokers NHRA Mile-High Nationals on July 14-16 at Bandimere Speedway will be the last NHRA national event at the historic track just outside of Denver.

For the past several years, the Bandimere family has also been proactive in their efforts to locate another possible location in the Denver area where a new facility could be built. They’ve worked with investors on a possible new track and facility location, with the goal being a short hiatus in the area and the continuation of NHRA drag racing in Denver.

First opened in 1958, the Bandimere family has agreed to sell the current property and land, with the 2023 racing season marking the end of drag racing at the Morrison, Colo. location.

HAGAN, BROWN, GLENN RACE TO WINS AT NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS; TONY STEWART ALSO PICKS UP FIRST NHRA VICTORY

LAS VEGAS – It was a historic double-up for Tony Stewart Racing on Sunday at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, as Hall of Fame racer Tony Stewart and Funny Car points leader Matt Hagan both claimed victories in front of a capacity crowd at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals.

Antron Brown (Top Fuel) and Dallas Glenn (Pro Stock) also won the fourth of 21 races during the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season.

Stewart, who made his NHRA debut last season in the Top Alcohol Dragster ranks in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, won in just his fourth career start, going 5.324-seconds at 269.62 mph in the final round in his Mobil 1 dragster. The legendary racer was the runner-up in his NHRA debut at the fall race in Las Vegas last year, picking up a memorable first win on Sunday, now giving Stewart wins in NHRA, NASCAR and IndyCar, as well as victories on every track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

“When we raced here last fall, I was just ecstatic to make the finals, but today I told Leah (Pruett, wife and Top Fuel racer), ‘I’m not happy to just be in the finals today. I said I want this,’” Stewart said. “I thoroughly enjoyed four-wide racing. I’ll be honest, to me, it feels like it kind of brings that short track feel, like the first few rounds it felt like heat races. It’s hard not to like it when you win, but I think it’s a cool deal.”

PEDREGON, B. FORCE AND HARTFORD QUALIFY NO. 1 AT NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS

LAS VEGAS– Cruz Pedregon raced to his second straight No. 1 qualifier, hanging on to the top spot at Saturday’s NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Brittany Force (Top Fuel) and Matt Hartford (Pro Stock) also qualified No. 1 qualifiers at the fourth of 21 races during the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season.

Pedregon’s run of 3.910-seconds at 326.71 mph in his 11,000-horsepower Snap-On Tools Dodger Charger Hellcat SRT from Friday held up, giving the two-time world champion his second No. 1 spot this season and the 64th in his career. Pedregon will race for his first win of the season on Sunday, with his opening-round quad also featuring Steven Densham, Tim Wilkerson and Bobby Bode.

“We stayed No. 1 and I’m grateful for that,” Pedregon said. “The team made the right calls today and we made down the track three of our four runs. Now, we just need to keep doing the same thing, be consistent and race the track (tomorrow). You have to be smart. The guys that are disciplined and don’t press are the ones that have success. We’ll see what the day brings (on Sunday), but it’s anybody’s race out there.”

Alexis DeJoria stayed second with her run of 3.933 at 329.18 and points leader Matt Hagan took third with a 3.936 at 327.82.

B. FORCE, PEDREGON AND GLENN RACE TO PROVISIONAL NO. 1 SPOTS AT NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS

LAS VEGAS – Defending Top Fuel world champion Brittany Force continued to roll at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, powering to the provisional No. 1 qualifier position on Friday at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals.

Cruz Pedregon (Funny Car) and Dallas Glenn (Pro Stock) are also the provisional No. 1 qualifiers at the fourth of 21 races during the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season.

Force went 3.697-seconds at 335.73 mph in her 11,000-horsepower Monster Energy dragster as she looks to pick up her second top spot this season and 44th in her career. A year ago, Force won in dominant fashion at both races at Las Vegas, qualifying No. 1 at the fall race and second at the four-wide race in the spring. It’s been a track where Force has made record runs as well, and now she looks to win for the fourth time in Vegas.

“When I crossed the finish line, it felt like a killer run and it’s very exciting to do that,” Force said. “Our performance (last season) here was great. We’ve been very successful here and made some killer runs at this track. That’s been huge for us and coming into this event, you feel like you already have that behind you to carry into the weekend.

“It feels good to get back on track and the great thing is we get two more runs tomorrow before going into raceday on Sunday. It’s chaotic up there in a four-wide race, so you’ve got to clear your mind and just stay focused.”

PRO STOCK’S DALLAS GLENN OUT FOR REDEMPTION AT NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS

LAS VEGAS – There have been plenty of good moments for Pro Stock’s Dallas Glenn at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, including a 2021 victory at the fall race that helped clinch his NHRA Rookie of the Year award. But it’s also the one that got away last year at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals that continues to motivate him.

An unfortunate wire issue on his car spelled the end of his chance at a win in the final quad a year ago, which means Glenn is eager to make amends at this weekend’s NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Las Vegas.

Glenn has been terrific to open the season in his RAD Torque Systems Chevrolet Camaro, winning in Pomona and moving into the points lead for the first time in his young career. The standout hopes to continue to stay atop the loaded Pro Stock field, while adding his first Las Vegas four-wide victory in the process.

“I absolutely love Vegas,” Glenn said. “Me and that track usually get along well, so I’m really looking forward to the four-wide race. I feel like last year I got robbed a little bit. I felt really good on the (starting line) and I had the fastest car going into the final quad and a wire broke and everything shut off in my car. I feel like we had a great chance to win, so I’m really looking for redemption on that.”

PREVIOUS VEGAS SUCCESS, FAST START TO SEASON HAS FUNNY CAR’S ALEXIS DEJORIA EXCITED FOR NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS

LAS VEGAS, NV – Alexis DeJoria has enjoyed success at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the annual NHRA spring race but has never captured a win in the four-wide setting that will be part of this weekend’s NHRA Four-Wide Nationals.

The good news for the Funny Car standout is she’s off to one of the best starts in her career, currently sitting third in points in her 11,000-horsepower Bandero Premium Tequila Toyota Supra GR. DeJoria, who won at the Las Vegas spring race in both 2014 and 2016, has posted a pair of semifinal finishes in the first three events in the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season, along with a victory in the new Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge.

It all leaves DeJoria excited for what could go down at the four-wide event this year. She was in the final quad a season ago, just missing out on her first four-wide triumph. But her team is clicking in an impressive way and a victory in Las Vegas at one of the biggest spectacles in motorsports would only add to that.

TOP FUEL STAR LEAH PRUETT EAGER FOR LAS VEGAS SUCCESS AT NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS

LAS VEGAS – Off to a solid start to open her 2023 season in the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, Top Fuel star Leah Pruett is ready to take the next step this year at this weekend’s NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Pruett has raced to a pair of semifinal berths over the first three races this season, making strong progress and seeing plenty of improvement from her Tony Stewart Racing Top Fuel team. An early-season victory would do even more for the group’s momentum, especially in the challenging – and thrilling – four-wide setting in Las Vegas.

Pruett, who won last year in Denver to give TSR its first Top Fuel win, is after her first victory at the facility. She qualified well at the four-wide race last spring, taking the third spot and just missing out on advancing to the final quad. With the team showing early promise, Pruett likes her chances this weekend in her 11,000-horsepower Code 3 Associates dragster.

“I think the four-wide event comes at an appropriate time in the season,” Pruett said. “The off-season rust is kicked off and everyone is moving and grooving in working order. We shook off all the single passes of the off-season, gathered a couple dozen side-by-side hits and now turn it up with the focus of four-wide.

DRAG RACING’S ULTIMATE THRILL RIDE UNLEASHED DURING NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS IN LAS VEGAS

LAS VEGAS – The biggest spectacle in drag racing is set to return to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, as the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series goes four-wide drag racing at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals on April 14-16.

With four 11,000-horsepower nitro-burning machines powering down the dragstrip simultaneously in Las Vegas, it serves as drag racing’s ultimate thrill ride and a scene unlike anything else in motorsports. This year’s NHRA Four-Wide Nationals marks the fourth of 21 races during the 2023 season, giving fans a can’t-miss opportunity to take in the out-of-this-world sights and sounds when drag racing goes to four lanes.

A year ago, the first of two annual stops in Las Vegas served as a huge precursor to overall success, as all three winners at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals – Brittany Force (Top Fuel), Ron Capps (Funny Car) and Erica Enders (Pro Stock) – ended the season as world champions.
