EXCITING TOP FUEL REMATCHES SET AS MISSION #2FAST2TASTY NHRA CHALLENGE KICKS OFF AT FINAL NHRA ARIZONA NATIONALS

PHOENIX – The final NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series race at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park will also include matchups in the first-ever Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge, with an intriguing foursome in Top Fuel set to rematch as part of this weekend’s last NHRA Arizona Nationals.

The Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge brings competitive racing to the qualifying schedule on Saturday at 12 regular-season events during the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series campaign, pitting semifinalists from the previous race against each other in a pair of rematches, with the two winners then matching up in the final qualifying session.

That starts in Phoenix, with Gainesville Top Fuel winner Mike Salinas taking on Leah Pruett and Steve Torrence facing off with Doug Kalitta. With a bonus purse and bonus playoff points on the line, Salinas is hopeful for a big weekend in his 11,000-horsepower Scrappers Racing dragster at a track where he won in 2022.

LUCAS OIL NHRA WINTERNATIONALS KICK OFF NEW ERA AT NEWLY-NAMED IN-N-OUT BURGER POMONA DRAGSTRIP

POMONA, CA – A new era in the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series’ storied history in Pomona is set to begin later this month, as the newly-named In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip hosts one of NHRA’s iconic events, the 63rd annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals on March 30-April 2.

The facility has played host to NHRA history for more than six decades and this year’s Lucas NHRA Winternationals marks an exciting new chapter with the first official race with the In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip name. It comes as the third race in the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season, with all the top stars in Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock looking for an early-season victory at the legendary dragstrip.

The race will also feature the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge, an exciting new special program that debuts this season and will take place on Saturday. Offering bonus money and bonus points, the challenge will feature the rematch of the semifinalists at Phoenix, with the winners meeting up in the finals. It will make for a thrilling Saturday, leading right into the must-see action of Sunday eliminations at one of the most historic venues on the NHRA tour.

HAGAN, SALINAS, COUGHLIN AND HERRERA OPEN 2023 WITH WINS AT AMALIE MOTOR OIL NHRA GATORNATIONALS

GAINESVILLE, FL – In a matchup of the last two Funny Car winners at the 54th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, Matt Hagan drove past J.R. Todd in the final round on Sunday to kick off the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season, also giving Tony Stewart a second straight victory at Gainesville Raceway.

Mike Salinas (Top Fuel), Troy Coughlin Jr. (Pro Stock) and Gaige Herrera (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also won at the first of 21 races during the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season.

Hagan powered to a run of 3.926-seconds at 329.34 mph in his 11,000-horsepower Dodge Direct Connection Charger SRT Hellcat, winning the Gatornationals for the second straight season. Both Hagan and Todd posted identical reaction times on the starting line, but Todd ran into trouble late in the run and Hagan claimed his 44th career win. He also defeated Tim Wilkerson, Bob Tasca III and Alexis DeJoria, making three straight runs in the 3.80s to reach the final round. After going his entire career without winning in Gainesville, Hagan, a three-time world champ, now has back-to-back wins at the historic race.

“For this team, we were just running strong, and to come out and win the first race of the season, it’s just amazing,” said Hagan, who is fourth all-time in Funny Car wins. “I’m just in awe of our team right now.

B. FORCE, TASCA, ENDERS AND JOHNSON TAKE PROVISIONAL NO. 1 SPOTS AT AMALIE MOTOR OIL NHRA GATORNATIONALS

GAINESVILLE, FL – Reigning world champ Brittany Force opened the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season in impressive fashion, racing to the provisional No. 1 qualifier on Friday at the 54th Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway.

Bob Tasca III (Funny Car), Erica Enders (Pro Stock) and Steve Johnson (Pro Stock Motorcycle) are also the provisional No. 1 qualifiers at the first of 21 races during the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season. The second qualifying session in Top Fuel and Funny Car on Friday was cancelled due to inclement weather

Force, who posted 10 No. 1 qualifiers in her championship season a year ago, went 3.699-seconds at 336.99 mph to kick off the season in her 11,000-horsepower Monster Energy dragster. Force’s first career victory in Top Fuel came in Gainesville in 2016 and she’s eager to repeat that to start her championship defense.

“It felt really good to come out at the first race and the first run of the season and go to the top,” Force said. “It was incredible. We spent a lot of hours and a lot of days testing this off-season, and we kind of picked up where we left off last year. It’s the same group of guys and it’s a great start to the season.

STAGE IS SET FOR FINAL NHRA ARIZONA NATIONALS AT WILD HORSE PASS MOTORSPORTS PARK

First Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge will also take place at last NHRA race in Phoenix.

PHOENIX – The last “Duel in the Desert” is set for Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, as the final NHRA Arizona Nationals will take place on March 24-26 at the facility just outside of Phoenix.

The 38th and final NHRA Arizona Nationals marks the second race of the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season, bringing plenty of excitement and anticipation to the facility. Massive crowds are expected all weekend, as race fans will look to celebrate nearly four decades of history in Phoenix with plenty of 11,000-horsepower, 330-mph action to close out racing at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park.

The final NHRA Arizona Nationals will also include the first Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge, a special program that will take place on Saturday and offer bonus money and bonus points. It will feature the rematch of the semifinalists at the season-opening Gatornationals, with the winners meeting up in the finals. All the action will take place during qualifying on Saturday, adding another memorable incentive to the last NHRA appearance in Phoenix.

AMALIE MOTOR OIL NHRA GATORNATIONALS PROMISES FULL SLATE OF EVENTS TO OPEN 2023 NHRA SEASON

GAINESVILLE, FL – In less than a month, the hallowed grounds of Gainesville Raceway will come to life with the incredible sights and sounds of 11,000-horsepower, 330-mph racing action when the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series opens its 2023 season on March 9-12 at the 54th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals.

Along with that comes a full slate of special events and celebration as the 72nd NHRA season kicks off in style at the legendary facility. Fans will see thrilling racing from all four professional classes (Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle) as the NHRA stars look to open the season with a victory, and there’s plenty of additional entertainment to keep fans excited all weekend long.

Leading into the race, a special Gatornationals Fan Fest will take place on Wednesday, March 8 from 6-9 p.m. at Josh Hart’s Burnyzz Speed Shop in nearby Ocala. The Top Fuel standout will host an event featuring a car show, live music and a driver autograph session from 7-8 p.m. A special championship press conference and season kick-off event follows the next day at the Hilton University of Florida in Gainesville, honoring 2022 NHRA world champs Brittany Force, Ron Capps, Erica Enders and Matt Smith, and also featuring Hart, John Force and legendary driver “Big Daddy” Don Garlits.

INDIANAPOLIS – NHRA and Mission Foods, the world’s leading brand for tortillas and wraps, have partnered together for the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge, an exciting new race program for the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season.

Beginning at the NHRA Arizona Nationals in Phoenix on March 24-26, the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge will introduce competitive racing to the Saturday schedule at regular-season events during the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series campaign, pitting semifinalists from the previous race against each other in a rematch for all professional categories as part of a must-see challenge.

They will face off during the first qualifying session on Saturday, with the two winners then matching up in the final qualifying session with an additional purse and bonus points for the Countdown to the Championship on the line, adding another marquee attraction to the NHRA race weekend. NHRA ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE FOR NHRA PRO MOD SERIES, SPECIALTY CLASSES AND LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES AT 2023 NATIONAL EVENTS

INDIANAPOLIS – NHRA has released the 2023 schedule for the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series, as well as specialty classes and all Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series categories competing at NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series national events next year.

The NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series will open in Gainesville, the first of 10 races in the 2023 campaign. The action-packed class will race at the four-wide event in Charlotte and make its debut at both Route 66 Raceway in Chicago and also New England Dragway in Epping.

Those two first-time appearances are part of a five-race stretch that also includes a return trip to Bristol and an event in Norwalk, before a break until Brainerd. After a race in St. Louis, the season finale will also move back to Las Vegas in late October.

Top Fuel Motorcycle, which includes the record-breaking Larry “Spiderman” McBride, thrilled fans at two stops in 2022 and will race at Chicago and Topeka next season.

NHRA ANNOUNCES CALLOUT EVENTS FOR PRO STOCK AND PSM IN 2023, FULL CAMPING WORLD DRAG RACING SERIES CATEGORY SCHEDULE

Pro Stock specialty race coming to Chicago, while Pro Stock Motorcycle makes Seattle debut and competes in callout event at Sonoma

INDIANAPOLIS – NHRA has unveile d the category schedule for the four professional categories in the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series for the 2023 season, as well as the announcement of highly-anticipated NHRA All-Star Callout events in both Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle, adding to the scheduled Pep Boys NHRA All-Star Callout specialty races in both Top Fuel and Funny Car.

The 2023 campaign starts with the 54th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, kicking off what will be the 72nd season of racing in the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series. Both Top Fuel and Funny Car will compete at all 21 races at standout tracks across the country, giving race fans the chance to experience the amazing thrills and the intense action of the 11,000-horsepower nitro categories. Pro Stock will take part in 18 events, while Pro Stock Motorcycle will appear at 15 races.

All four professional categories (Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle) will also race in all six events in the Countdown to the Championship playoffs. The NHRA Pro Stock All-Star Callout will take place on Saturday, May 20 as part of the Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by PEAK Performance at Route 66 Raceway in Chicago, pitting eight top drivers against each other in a unique callout format for the one-day specialty race.
