DALLAS, TX – Top Fuel driver and team owner Buddy Hull, will add Gates Belts, Tillitt Collision Centers and KE Baker Trucking to his Vertex Roofing and General Contractors Top Fuel entry for this weekend’s NHRA Midwest Nationals at World Wide Technologies Raceway. Hull has qualified for each event he has entered in 2022 including the recent Menards Topeka Nationals in August. The second year professional Top Fuel driver opened the season qualifying for the historic Winternationals in Pomona, California, and made the field at the Spring Nationals in Houston, Texas. This weekend’s event, the fourth of the season for Hull, will see him continue to pursue his dream in one of the most extreme and exciting categories in all of motorsports with support from  associate sponsors DFW RV Center, Lucky’s Diesel Shop, CamperLife Superstore, Roof 4 Vets and 1st Class Graphics.

‘We had a good weekend in Topeka and I am working to build my program step-by-step,” said Hull, who grew up in Central Illinois and is a third generation drag racer. “This is a great event since it is close to my hometown and we have added Gates Belts and Tillitt Collision Centers to our team. Gates will be with us for the rest of the season and into 2023 and I am excited to have Tillitt Collision Centers and KE Baker Trucking on my Top Fuel dragster for this St Louis race. Both Illinois-based companies are excited to be part of the NHRA national event at World Wide Technology Raceway.”

First Round Exit a Learning Experience For Hull and His Team

TOPEKA, KS – Top Fuel driver and team owner Buddy Hull extended his Camping World qualifying streak at the wheel of the Vertex Roofing and General Contractors Top Fuel dragster before dropping a first round decision to championship contender and No. 2 qualifier Justin Ashley in the 33rd Menards Nationals presented by Pet Armor at Heartland Motorsports Park.

With the support of a host of associate sponsors including DFW RV Center, Lucky’s Diesel Shop, CamperLife Superstore, Roof 4 Vets and 1st Class Graphics, Hull now has qualified for every event he has entered in 2022: the season opening Winternationals in Pomona, California, the Spring Nationals in Houston, Texas and, now, the Menard’s Nationals.

Although the Texan was victimized in round one by a mechanical issue, he said the experience was just part of the learning process, especially for a new team like his own.

“It doesn’t matter if you are a brand new team or a team that has been out here a lot of years,” he said.  “We are on the edge of performance with these cars.  Austin Prock (a member of the John Force Racing juggernaut) is a great example. They have an incredible program, extremely well-funded, and they are hurting engines. I don’t know if this is a new team’s growing pains issue or if it is a nitromethane racecar situation.  These engines are the real deal and basically controlled bombs. When they go out there and they smoke the tires that soon (as was the case in today’s first round), they are going to blow up. That is just going to happen, there is nothing you can do about it.

TOP FUEL’S BUDDY HULL EAGER TO GET BACK ON TRACK IN TOPEKA

DALLAS, TX – Top Fuel driver and team owner Buddy Hull, will return to the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series this weekend during the Menards Nationals presented by Pet Armor at Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka, Kansas. The second year driver will once again pilot the Vertex Roofing and General Contractors with support from  associate sponsors DFW RV Center, Lucky’s Diesel Shop, CamperLife Superstore, Roof 4 Vets and 1st Class Graphics. Hull has qualified for each event he has entered in 2022 including the season opening Winternationals in Pomona, California, and the Spring Nationals in Houston, Texas. This weekend’s event will be Hull’s sixteenth professional start in Top Fuel, one of the most extreme and exciting categories in all of motorsports.

“It has been an awesome summer, but I am tired of looking at my race car in the shop,” said Hull, during an interview on CompetitionPlus.com Power Hour podcast. “I want to see the race car sitting next to the trailer in the pits. I want to see my race car being towed to the staging lanes.”

The young team is still coming together on Hull’s own timeline and the aspiring full-time professional driver knows he must develop marketing relationships as well as team management skills to be successful. Hull has built several successful businesses including Vertex Roofing and General Contractors, so he is leaning on that experience as well as his passion for following his dreams.

Buddy Hull Eager to Get Back on Track in 2022

DALLAS, TX – Second year driver Buddy Hull, who finished No. 14 in points in Top Fuel during his rookie season last year, will be back in action during the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series driving a Tim Wilkerson tuned Top Fuel dragster. Hull purchased the Top Fuel operation that Wilkerson, a two-time Funny Car winner in 2021, ran at a handful of national events with Keith Murt driving. The race car will race under the Buddy Hull Racing banner with primary sponsorship from Hull’s business Vertex Roofing and General Contractors as well as associate sponsor support from DFW RV Center, Lucky’s Diesel Shop and 1st Class Graphics.

“We had a solid rookie season and I want to build on that success,” said Hull. “I have known Tim almost my whole life and the chance to work with him made this a great opportunity. I have to thank Terry Haddock for everything he did for me last year. There is no way I would have had the opportunity to race at the professional level without his help and guidance. We are going to try and do as many national events as we can and be smart about how we are racing. Tim will continue to be the leader of our team and I am super excited about the 2022 season.”

Hull plans on participating in the PRO Nitro Spring Training event at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park prior to competing at the season opening Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals in Pomona. The driver and team owner from Dallas, Texas, will skip the NHRA Arizona Nationals but return to action at the historic Gatornationals. Additionally, he plans to run the SpringNationals in Houston, the Heartland Nationals in Topeka, the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, the Midwest Nationals in St. Louis, the Texas Fall Nationals and Stampede of Speed at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis and possibly the fall Las Vegas national event.
