FORD STILL UNDEFEATED! BUTNER WINS CLOSEST ADRL SUPERCAR SHOWDOWN FINAL ROUND EVER!

Written by Bret Kepner

Martin, MI – Bo Butner is quickly becoming the most dominant driver in the American Drag Racing League’s incredible new SuperCar Showdown category but his victory at the ADRL’s Summer Drags VIII at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan, proved he is ahead of his closest rivals by only the slimmest of margins.

The SuperCar Showdown, which showcases unmodified current production automobiles in the exact trim in which they are delivered to dealerships, crowned three different champions in its first five events. However, the 2012 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet campaigned by the Jim Butner Auto Sales team had been either the winner or the runner-up at every race.

To earn his fourth eliminator championship in six completed events, the past World Champion from Floyds Knobs, Indiana, had to survive a challenge he issued to SuperCar Showdown National Record Holder Drew Skillman. The most anticipated match of the new division’s first season came in the title bout and the battle which ensued was the closest drag race yet seen in SuperCar Showdown eliminations.

Skillman Ford to Debut 2013 Super Cobra Jet at ADRL Martin Event

Written by Bret Kepner

Martin, MI – While the Ford Motor Company has dominated the American Drag Racing League’s spectacular new SuperCar Showdown category, fans attending the ADRL Summer Drags VIII on June 13-14 are in for a thrilling surprise. The event, contested at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan, will be the site of the first public competition appearance of the radical new 2013 Mustang Super Cobra Jet.

Drew Skillman, who won his first ADRL SuperCar Showdown title at the Gateway Drags IV at Madison, Illinois, in June, announced the Skillman Ford team will unveil a new 2013 model in SCS competition with virtually no modifications; the new Super Cobra Jet will be taken directly off the showroom floor and thrown into battle.

“I guess it’s only fitting we debut the car in Michigan since that‘s where it was built”, said the twenty-four year-old from the team’s Ray Skillman Performance Ford headquarters in Indianapolis. “We race what we sell and we wanted to be the first to get one of the new Super Cobra Jets on the track.

Butner takes Third ADRL Super Car Win!

Written by Bret Kepner

Dinwiddie, VA – It was no easy task but Bo Butner scored his third event victory in the American Drag Racing League’s spectacular new SuperCar Showdown category. His road to the winner’s circle at the ADRL’s U.S. Drags V at Virginia Motorsports Park near Richmond was the most grueling yet for the past World Champion in his quest to keep the Ford Motor Company undefeated in the 2012 SuperCar Showdown series.

Holding the winner’s trophy at the end of the race was an unlikely prospect for the Floyds Knobs, Indiana veteran in a weekend which included a broken trailer rig, oppressive heat, destroyed parts and an unintentional new wheelstand altitude record over the course of three days.

“I’ve had tough races but this one takes it”, admitted Butner during post-race interviews. “We’ve been through the wringer at this one and it’s pretty hard to believe we pulled it off. It’s important for Ford, for me and for our fans to win and there’s a lot of pressure to make sure Ford is undefeated in this series but we sure worked for this one”.

Written by Bret Kepner

However, the mind of the two-time SuperCar Showdown champion wasn’t on the pristine sands or the cool ocean water; he was on the phone with the team of his Butner’s Auto Sales 2012 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet as competition raged at the ADRL Gateway Drags IV presented by CarSafe Automotive Repair Protection at Gateway Motorsports Parks in Madison, Illinois.

The helpless Hoosier could only listen as he heard the news of young Drew Skillman’s

World Record performances of 5.70 seconds and 121.01 miles per hour in another supercharged Mustang Cobra Jet en route to a clean sweep of the event culminating in Skillman’s first SCS victory. Moreover, Skillman’s final round victim was NHRA superstar Jimmy DeFrank, whom Butner pegged to drive his Cobra Jet in his absence.

The popular Michigan racer finally hoisted an ADRL SCS trophy in front of a cheering fans after winning the ADRL’s Northeast Drags II presented by Penske at Maple Grove Raceway near Reading, Pennsylvania.
