Boasting a long history as a popular destination for top doorslammer racing, the impressive facility is an ideal place for the X-DRL and BDMS to kick off their highly anticipated premier season. It is the first race of nine scheduled events during the debut 2013 season in the X-treme Drag Racing League.

Black Diamond Motorsports John Deflorian, Runner-up at ADRL World Finals

Ennis, TX – John Deflorian in Black Diamond Motorsports Jerry Haas Race Cars 2012 Camaro powered by a Sonny Racing engine started from the number one qualifying spot with a 4.040 seconds elapsed time (ET) at 179.95 miles per hour (MPH) which set the new MPH record when he backed it up with a 4.046 ET at 178.64 MPH in the second session to earn 50 Championship points. Deflorian defeated Brian Gahm, Elijah Morton and Matt Bertsch before squaring off with newly crown ADRL World Champion Cary Goforth.

Deflorian used a .082 reaction time coupled with a 4.102 seconds ET at 176.26 mph but it was not enough to catch Cary Goforth’s .037 reaction time coupled with an engine destroying run of 4.096 ET for the win .

Kevin Bealko in the Black Diamond Motorsports Jerry Haas Race Cars 2011 GXP powered by a Sonny Racing engine qualified for the sixth race in a row since converting to a clutch started from the fourteenth position with a 4.096 ET at 176.77 MPH to face off with newly crown ADRL World Champion Cary Goforth. Bealko ran a 4.149 ET at 174.73 MPH loosing effort against Goforth’s 4.095 ET at 175.87 MPH when the GXP rolled though the beams causing at (-.102) red light .

Deflorian resets World Speed Record while Qualifying Number 1

Ennis, TX – Black Diamond Motorsports Jerry Haas Race Cars built Sonny Racing Engine powered 2012 Camaro driven by John DeFlorian improved his world speed record in Extreme Pro Stock by going 179.95 miles per hour (MPH) that also took  the No. 1 qualifying spot with a run of 4.04 seconds elapsed time (ET).

If it holds up for Saturday’s qualifying round, it will be DeFlorian’s fifth No. 1 qualifier in his first year in Extreme Pro Stock .

“Coming down here, I thought we could go 180 mph and I still think we can,” said DeFlorian, who also thanked Sonny’s Racing Engines. “The weather has been consistent and conditions are exceptional out there. We couldn’t be happier.

“Sonny’s have given us great power and the car is working really well. This team is amazing and the guys just work their tails off.”

Deflorian Qualifies Number One at ADRL Ohio Drags VI

Norwalk, OH – Black Diamond Motorsports 2012 Jerry Haas built Camaro powered by Sonny Racing Engines and driven by John Deflorian qualified Number one with a 4.039 seconds elapsed time (ET) at 179.54 miles per hour (MPH) in the quickest Extreme Pro Stock field ever at American Drag Racing League (ADRL) Summit Racing Equipment Ohio Drags VI presented by Mickey Thompson held at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk Ohio .

Only 0.052 seconds separated the sixteen car field from first to sixteenth with Kevin Bealko and the Black Diamond Motorsports 2011 Jerry Haas built GXP powered by Sonny Racing Engines sitting in the fifteenth qualifying position with a 4.090 ET at 176.56 MPH .

First round of Eliminations saw Kevin Bealko in the GXP defeat number two qualifier Todd Hoerner’s Electronic Fuel Injected 2012 Camaro with a 4.171 ET at 172.47 MPH to Hoerner’s tire shaking 5.503 ET.

Black Diamond Motorsports DeFlorian Qualified Number One at Memphis Drags III

Memphis, TN – A track record in Extreme Pro Stock was good enough to send John DeFlorian to the top spot, as he went 4.131 seconds elapsed time (ET) at 175.73 miles per hour (MPH) in the first session of qualifying but that was just a preview of what was ahead. In the final session of qualifying saw the 2012 Jerry Haas built Sonny Racing powered Camaro resetting the track record again with a 4.105 ET at 176.14 MPH a full .03 of second ahead of the nearest driver .

“The conditions were a little better, but we found a problem after the second run,” DeFlorian said. “The Pro Stock cars were in the pits and we were there thrashing right before we ran. It was kind of a guess, but we went with it and it was hauling. What an awesome day.”

Kevin Bealko in the Jerry Haas built Sonny Racing powered 2011 GXP ran 4.169 ET at181.62 MPH in the second session which held on for the fourteenth qualifying position at the end of the day.

The fourth and final round of qualifying at Memphis International Raceway takes place at 12 p.m. CST on Saturday with eliminations to follow at 3:30 p.m

Kevin Bealko on the fast track at Martin 131 Event

Martin, MI – Patience and perseverance were the theme of the day at Summer Drags VIII at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Mich. Fridays first session of qualifying saw the Black Diamond Motorsports 2011 GXP driven by Kevin Bealko sitting in the number one position with a 4.072 seconds elapsed time (ET) at 175.45 miles per hour (MPH).

Six hours later after several rain showers in the second round of qualifying with the humidity at the extreme end of the gauge, Kevin aborted the run when the GXP headed for the wall but his previous qualifying run held up enough for third position as the rain returned again canceling the rest of qualifying. Saturday would be the final qualifying session in which the Black Diamond Motorsports crew hoped to improve in.

Saturday’s qualifying session did not see any improvement in the ET but no other competitor was able to improve their ET’s either allowing the GXP to remain in the third position and would have to face the Lone Mopar driven by Larry O’Brien in the first round of eliminations.

John Deflorian Wins ADRL Summer Drags VIII

Martin, MI – John Deflorian selected and assembled every piece in his Black Diamond Motorsports 2012 Camaro in the evening hours after work at Jerry Haas Race Cars with several goals in mind , qualifying number one, setting a record and winning a race in American Drag Racing’s League’s (ADRL) Extreme Pro Stock class.

In its sixth pass in competition the Jerry Haas Race Cars 2012 Camaro driven by John and his Black Diamond Motorsports crew qualified number one in the second session with 4.105 elapsed time (ET) at 175.91miles per hour (MPH) at ADRL Spring Drags III in Bristol then upped the ante with a 4.091 ET at 176.05 MPH in the third session to cement his first number one qualifying position .

John accomplished another of his goal’s in the third session of qualifying at ADRL’s Gateway Drags IV presented by CarSafe held at Gateway Motorsports Park in St. Louis his home track . John ran the fastest ET and MPH of Extreme Pro Stock class racing with a 4.018 ET at 179.92 MPH capturing both records in the sixteenth pass on the Camaro .

Bealko and Deflorian, 3rd and 4th after 2 Sessions at ADRL Martin

Martn, MI – Black Diamond Motorsports driver’s Kevin Bealko and John Deflorian, Jr. closed Friday’s day of qualifying in third and fourth qualifying positions. With two separate rain delays that wiped away one total round of qualifying, patience was the key at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park.

The 2011 GXP driven by Kevin Bealko opened the first qualifying session with a 4.072 seconds elapsed time which placed him in the number one spot. In the second round of qualifying six hours later with the humidity at the extreme end of the gauge, Kevin aborted the run when the GXP headed for the wall but his previous qualifying run held up enough for third position for Saturday final qualifying session

The 2012 Camaro driven by John Deflorian, Jr. opened the first qualifying session with a tire shaking 4.279 seconds elapsed time which placed him outside of the field. With the rain delays John waited patiently for his turn to qualify and parlayed it into a 4.088 seconds elapsed time placing him on the same side of the qualifying ladder with Kevin in the fourth position .

Black Diamond Motorsports exits early at ADRL U.S. Drag V

Dinwiddie, VA – The American Drag Racing League made its return to Virginia Motorsports Park for the U.S. Drags V and was greeted with a deluge of extreme conditions. First round of qualifying the temperatures were on the extreme end of the scale but despite these Kevin Bealko in his competition debut with a clutch, was able to qualify the 2011 GXP in ninth position while John Delforian, Jr. in the 2012 Camaro ended up in the sixteenth position .

The second round of qualifying started twelve hours later after several rain showers and a temperature drop of almost twenty degrees John was able to improve his time while Kevin wiggled down the track but unfortunately the other teams also improved their elapsed times bumping both cars out of the field . Rain ended any more qualifying sessions for friday night and the team went to work prepping both cars for the final qualifying session on Saturday.
