Khalid alBalooshi – Al- Anabi Racing Top Fuel Dragster (gold)

Kahlid alBalooshiQualifying:   Khalid alBalooshi was the No. 13 qualifier at the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals.  During the final round of qualifying, he made a 3.787-second pass at 313.80 mph to claim the No. 13 position.

Eliminations: AlBalooshi defeated Leah Pritchett before losing to Top Fuel points leader Doug Kalitta in the second round of eliminations.

Unofficial Point Standings: AlBalooshi drops one spot to second place in the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel point standings.  He trails points leader Doug Kalitta by 26 points and leads third place Antron Brown by nine points.

Team Al-Anabi Phonenix Pre-Race Report

Khalid alBalooshi, Al-Anabi Racing Top Fuel Dragster (gold):

GNP_GN1_2509Dubai native Khalid alBalooshi, the first Middle Eastern driver to compete in a major United States Motorsports series, enters the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals in first place in the 2014 NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel point standings – it is the first time in his Top Fuel career that he has entered an event as the points leader.  He leads second-place Doug Kalitta by six points.

“This is something new for me; it is the first time I am the points leader, and that is what I thought about when I flew back to Dubai with my trophy after Pomona.  I was very excited to be back in Dubai to be able to enjoy the win with my family and friends.  I put the trophy in my speed shop.  I think this trophy is special because it is the first NHRA Top Fuel trophy that I put in my speed shop.  The trophies from my other two wins are in my home in California.  I thank everyone on the Al-Anabi team for his help in making this win happen; it was very good for everyone.

alBalooshi takes Al-Anabi to Top Fuel Title at Winternationals

TOP FUEL WINNER:  Khalid alBalooshi;  Al- Anabi Racing Top Fuel Dragster (gold)

Kahlid alBalooshi - 2014 WinternationalsQualifying:   Khalid alBalooshi was the No. 7 qualifier at the Circle K Winternationals; during the first round of qualifying on Saturday, alBalooshi ran a 3.774-second pass at 324.59 mph.

Eliminations: AlBalooshi defeated Tony Schumacher, his teammate Shawn Langdon, Steve Torrence and Doug Kalitta on his way to the winner’s circle.  It was alBalooshi’s third-career Top Fuel victory in five final-round appearances.  Today’s win marks the third-consecutive win for the Al-Anabi Racing Team at Pomona’s Auto Club Raceway; Shawn Langdon won both Pomona races last year.

Unofficial Point Standings: AlBalooshi is in first place in the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel point standings.  He leads second-place Doug Kalitta by six points.

The Al-Anabi Racing Team and ready for the 54th annual Circle K Winternationals

Shawn Langdon, Al-Anabi Racing Top Fuel Dragster (silver):

Shawn Langdon enters the 2014 drag racing season as the reigning NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel World Champion for the first time Shawn Langdon - Maple grovein his career.  Last year’s title was the third in the last four seasons for the Al-Anabi Racing Team.  In addition, it was Langdon’s fourth NHRA National Championship.  He won the 1997 NHRA Junior Dragster National Championship in the under 14 division and the NHRA Lucas Oil Super Comp championship in 2007 and ’08.  He is the first alumnus of the NHRA Junior Dragster program to win a Mello Yello Championship. 

When Langdon won the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel World Championship last year, he became the fifth driver to win a Top Fuel title with Alan Johnson serving as the crew chief, team owner or team manager.  The other Top Fuel champions that worked with Johnson are: Gary Scelzi, Tony Schumacher, Larry Dixon and Del Worsham.

AL-ANABI RACING DEBUTS 2014 CAR DESIGNS IN FLORIDA PRE-SEASON TESTING

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – Two months ago, the Al-Anabi Racing Team was in California celebrating its third NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel World Championship in the last four years.  Today, the team began pre-season testing at Palm Beach International Raceway in Florida with both Al-Anabi dragsters sporting new graphics for the new season.

2013 NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel World Champion Shawn Langdon’s silver Al-Anabi dragster has a new design created by Tyrant Productions, LLC which builds on the previous look and emphasizes the Al-Anabi logo at its core.  Khalid alBalooshi’s gold Al-Anabi dragster is radically different from last year’s design.  Created by Roland Sands Design, the new graphics feature gold images on a black background with a chrome finish on the top of the body. The team will participate in the PRO Winter Warm-up this weekend before returning to its shop near Indianapolis to prepare for the  start of the 2014 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing season.

AL-ANABI RACING TEAM ATTENDS DOHA GOALS FORUM IN QATAR

BROWNSBURG, IN Less than a month after clinching Al-Anabi Racing’s third NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel World Championship in the last four years, key team personnel attended this week’s Doha Goals Forum in Qatar.  The Doha Goals Forum is the world’s premier platform for world leaders to advance initiatives for global progress through sport.

Team owner His Excellency Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Thani, team manager Alan Johnson, Dubai driver Khalid alBalooshi and 2013 NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel World Champion Shawn Langdon were all in attendance. New general manager Brandon Bernstein was also in Qatar but did not have a role in the Goals Forum.  The team presented the 2013 NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel World Championship Trophy to the Qatari Government while in Doha.

The Doha Goals vision statement begins with:  “Sport unifies us across borders, cultures, and beliefs. Sport is universal, an international language transcending language, race and religion.  Sport offers a level playing field on which everyone is an equal participant. It is inclusive by nature and its fundamental principles make it highly effective in addressing problems of global concern. BRANDON BERNSTEIN, JOE BARLAM JOIN AL-ANABI RACING TEAM

BROWNSBURG, IN – Brandon Bernstein and Joe Barlam, released yesterday from Morgan Lucas Racing, have joined Al-Anabi Racing, Team Al-Anabithe team announced today.

Bernstein, a 19-time Top Fuel race winner, joins Al-Anabi Racing as the team’s general manager filling the position vacated by Chad Head one year ago. Prior to joining Morgan Lucas Racing in 2012, Bernstein served as the driver and general manager of his father’s NHRA race team from late in 2009 through the end of the 2011 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season. With his extensive experience running Kenny Bernstein Racing, he is fully aware of the many responsibilities that come with such a position. Bernstein began his new job this morning and will report directly to Al-Anabi Racing team manager Alan Johnson.

Team Al-Anabi Finishes the 2013 Mello Yello Season with an Exclamation Point!

Shawn Langdon, TOP FUEL WINNER & 2013 NHRA MELLO YELLO TOP FUEL WORLD CHAMPION

Qualifying:   Shawn Langdon was the No. 2 qualifier at the 49th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals.  During the second round of Shawn Langdon - Comp Plus - Richard Bradyqualifying on Friday, Langdon recorded a 3.750-second pass at 327.03 mph.  After qualifying was complete on Saturday, Langdon had accrued enough points to clinch his first NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel World Championship and the third in the last four years for the Al-Anabi Racing Team.

Eliminations: Langdon defeated Steve Torrence, David Grubnic, Clay Millican and Doug Kalitta on his way to the winner’s circle.  It was Langdon’s seventh win of the season, more than any other driver in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series and the eighth of his career; it was the 112th career win for team manager Alan Johnson and his eighth at the NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway.

Langdon poised to capture NHRA Top Fuel Championship

Shawn Langdon enters the Auto Club NHRA Finals, the last of six events that comprise the Countdown to the Championship NHRA Shawn Langdon - Roger Richards - Comp PlusPlayoffs, in first place in the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel point standings.  He leads second-place Antron Brown by 102 points entering the final race of the season.  Depending on qualifying results and qualifying bonus-point acquisition, it is possible that Langdon could clinch his first-career NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel World Championship at the conclusion of qualifying on Saturday.  If not, should he win his first-round matchup on Sunday, he will clinch the World Championship no matter what anybody else does.

Should Langdon win the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel World Championship this weekend, Langdon would become the fifth driver to win a Top Fuel title with Alan Johnson serving as the crew chief, team owner or team manager.  The other Top Fuel champions are: Gary Scelzi, Tony Schumacher, Larry Dixon and Del Worsham.

Langdon Holds on to Top Fuel Points Lead headed to Pomona after Vegas

Shawn Langdon - Roger Richards - Comp PlusQualifying:   Shawn Langdon was the No. 1 qualifier at the Toyota NHRA Nationals.  During the Friday evening qualifying session, Langdon recorded a 3.778-second pass at 324.28 mph to claim his class-leading seventh No. 1 qualifier of the season and the 13th of his career.

Eliminations: Langdon defeated Terry McMillen and Brittany Force before losing to Clay Millican in the semifinals when the tires on the silver Al-Anabi Racing dragster lost traction during the run.

Unofficial Point Standings: Despite the semifinal loss, Langdon remains No. 1 in the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel point standings.  He leads new second-place driver Antron Brown, today’s race winner, by 102 points with one race remaining in the season.
