Good Showing for Al-Anabi at Indy

Shawn Langdon – Al- Anabi Racing Top Fuel Dragster (silver)

al-anabi-logoQualifying:   Shawn Langdon was the No. 5 qualifier at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals, the final race of the 2014 regular season.  During the third of five qualifying attempts Saturday night, Langdon needed just 3.779 seconds to reach the finish line at 321.42 mph.  Langdon qualified in the top-five positions at 12 of the 18 regular season races.

Eliminations: Langdon defeated Spencer Massey before losing to Richie Crampton in the second round of eliminations.

Al-Anabi Ready for Indy Repeat

Shawn Langdon, Al-Anabi Racing Top Fuel Dragster (silver):

al-anabi-logoReigning NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel world champion Shawn Langdon enters the Chevrolet Performance NHRA U.S. Nationals, the final race of the NHRA regular season, in third place in the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel point standings.  He trails second-place Antron Brown by 150 points and leads fourth-place Tony Schumacher by 129 points.  Langdon has qualified for the Countdown to the Championship NHRA Playoffs.

Langdon is the defending champion of the Chevrolet Performance NHRA U.S. Nationals; the Al-Anabi Team also won the U.S. Nationals in 2010 with driver Larry Dixon.  Al-Anabi Racing team manager Alan Johnson has won the U.S. Nationals Top Fuel title eight times in various roles including crew chief, team owner and team manager.  One year ago at the U.S. Nationals, Langdon was the No. 5 qualifier; he defeated Pat Dakin, Terry McMillen, Doug Kalitta and Steve Torrence on his way to the winner’s circle.

Al-Anabi Racing Brainerd Post Race Review

Shawn Langdon – Al- Anabi Racing Top Fuel Dragster (silver)

al-anabi-logoQualifying:   Shawn Langdon was the No. 3 qualifier at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals. During the second round of qualifying on Friday, Langdon recorded a 3.815-second pass at 321.27 mph.

Eliminations: Langdon defeated Terry McMillen before losing to Tony Schumacher in the second round of eliminations.

Unofficial Point Standings: Langdon remains third in the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel point standings.  He trails second-place Antron Brown by 150 points and leads fourth-place Tony Schumacher by 129 points.

Al-Anabi Top Fuel Teams head to Brainerd

Shawn Langdon, Al-Anabi Racing Top Fuel Dragster (silver):

al-anabi-logoReigning NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel world champion Shawn Langdon enters the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in third place in the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel point standings.  He trails second-place Antron Brown by 123 points and leads fourth-place Tony Schumacher by 147 points.  Langdon has qualified for the Countdown to the Championship NHRA Playoffs.

Langdon has advanced to at least the semifinals at eight of the last 12 races.  He won his first race of the season and the ninth of his career in June in Bristol, Tenn.  He has one win (Bristol), four final rounds (Charlotte, Topeka, Norwalk and Sonoma) and three semifinal appearances (Houston, Englishtown and Seattle) in the last 12 races.

Al-Anabi leaves Seattle Empty Handed

al-anabi-logoQualifying:   Shawn Langdon was the No. 3 qualifier at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Northwest Nationals.  During the first round of qualifying Friday afternoon, Langdon recorded a 3.807-second pass at 317.05 mph.

Eliminations: Langdon defeated Clay Millican and his teammate, Khalid alBalooshi, before losing to points leader Doug Kalitta, today’s race winner, in the semifinals.

With the Wind at their backs, Team Al-Anabi Heads to Seattle

al-anabi-logoReigning NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel world champion Shawn Langdon enters the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Northwest Nationals in third place in the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel point standings.  He trails second-place Antron Brown by 112 points and leads fourth-place Tony Schumacher by 154 points.

When he reached the semifinals at Sonoma Raceway last weekend, Langdon clinched his spot in the Countdown to the Championship NHRA Playoffs.  After debuting a new car on Friday of last week, Langdon was the No. 10 qualifier, but in eliminations, the car came to life.  Langdon defeated J.R Todd, points leader Doug Kalitta and Tony Schumacher before losing to his teammate, Khalid alBalooshi, in the finals.

The Al-Anabi Racing Team – Sonoma, Calif. NHRA Post-Event Wrap-Up

TOP FUEL WINNER:  Khalid alBalooshi – Al- Anabi Racing Top Fuel Dragster (gold)

Kahlid alBalooshiQualifying:   Khalid alBalooshi was the No. 8 qualifier at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals.  During the Friday evening qualifying session, alBalooshi recorded a 3.828-second pass at 316.52 mph.

Eliminations: AlBalooshi raced to his second win of the season and the fourth of his career on his 35th birthday.  He defeated Billy Torrence, Clay Millican, Richie Crampton and his teammate, Shawn Langdon on his way to the winner’s circle.  After the winner’s circle celebration, alBalooshi gave the race-win trophy to NHRA legend Ed “The Ace” McCulloch who spent the weekend with the team in Sonoma. Ed McCulloch is Al-Anabi crew chief Jason McCulloch’s father.

Langdon is the defending champion of the NHRA Sonoma Nationals.  The team also won at Sonoma Raceway in 2010 with driver Larry Dixon.  Langdon was the No. 6 qualifier last year; he defeated Bob Vandergriff, Doug Kalitta, Antron Brown and Morgan Lucas on his way to the winner’s circle.

Team Al-Anabi Heads to Denver for the start of the Western Swing

al-anabi-logoReigning NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel world champion Shawn Langdon enters the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals in third place in the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel point standings.  He trails second-place Antron Brown by 144 points and leads fourth-place Spencer Massey by 158 points.

The Mopar Mile-High Nationals begins the grueling three-race Western Swing.  Racing on three-consecutive weekends is no longer unique as the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series now races on four consecutive weekends somewhat routinely, but what makes these three races so difficult is the distance the crews must drive between races in Denver and Sonoma, Calif., 1,250 miles, between Sonoma and Seattle, 775 miles and then the distance between Seattle and the race shops mostly located near Indianapolis, 2,271 miles.

Al-Anabi Norwalk Report

Shawn Langdon – Al- Anabi Racing Top Fuel Dragster (silver)

al-anabi-logoQualifying:   Shawn Langdon was the No. 1 qualifier at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals.  It was his third No. 1 qualifier of the season and the 16th of his career.  During Saturday night’s final round of qualifying, Langdon set the track record elapsed time with a brilliant 3.745-second pass at 325.22 mph.

Eliminations: Langdon advanced to his fourth final round of the season and the 22nd of his career.  He defeated Terry McMillen, Brittany Force and Troy Buff before losing to Antron Brown in the finals.
