CARS ALREADY GATHERING FOR ADRL DRAGPALOOZA IX AT ROCKINGHAM

Lake St. Louis, MO — More than 70 professional ADRL teams are in the pits at North Carolina’s historic Rockingham Dragway. They are testing for this weekend’s return of the American Drag Racing League’s Dragpalooza IX to the track. The opening event of the 2013 ADRL season is Saturday and Sunday, March 9-10.

Drivers such as former NHRA U.S. Nationals Pro Mod Champion Rickie Smith, ADRL and IHRA Pro Stock World Champion John Montecalvo, and ADRL Pro Extreme Champion Jason Scruggs — all now regulars on the ADRL tour — have made test runs readying for Saturday’s first qualifying session.

Clear skies and temperatures in the 60’s are forecast for the rest of the weekend and that means fans could see the first doorslammer sub-3.50 Elapsed Time in drag racing history. Already in testing Jason Scruggs has recorded a 3.777/203+ lap and Midwest newcomer Monte Grace recorded the best ET of his career, a 3.63/199+ effort.

With excellent weather added to the ADRL’s free admission for race fans, a record crowd is expected as the ADRL returns to Rockingham.
