Carmen’s Banquet Centre Adds Elegance to the NDRA

Hamilton, ON – Since 1978 when Peter, Sam, and Morris Mercanti built Carmen’s Bakery, a legendary family business has grown from modest beginnings to a spectacular banquet and entertainment facility and a landmark in Hamilton, ON.

The bakery expanded in 1987 to become Carmen’s Banquet Centre; Hamilton’s largest and favourite banquet facility and caterer – a stature that they uphold and take pride in today. Through the years, Carmen’s has evolved into a multi-faceted hospitality business with interests in events, hotels, restaurants, entertainment, and catering.

Their iconic history boasts exclusive catering contracts with many Hamilton venues including the Royal Botanical Gardens, the Royal Connaught Hotel and the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, The Hamilton Spectator, Hamilton City Hall, Heron Point Golf Course, King’s Forest Golf Course, Beverly Golf and Country Club, the Ramada Hotel and the Holiday Inn in Oakville. In late 2012 Carmen’s was awarded the contract to become the operators of the Hamilton Convention Centre.

Carmen’s has hosted a myriad of celebrities too. World politicians, movie stars and entertainment greats have enjoyed Carmen’s facility and hospitality. Just a sampling of the long and prestigious list includes Governor Mario Cuomo, President George Bush, Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Prime Minister Jean Chretien, President Bill Clinton, Sylvester Stallone, Michael Douglas and Al Pacino.

Their interactive Dinner Theatre with over 50 shows per year has presented performances with Al Martino, The Drifters, The Platters, Charlie Prose, Ricci Martin and many other performers.
