BLAKE ALEXANDER & CHAD GREEN READY FOR NHRA VICTORY LANE AFTER FINAL ROUND SHOWINGS AT READING & CHARLOTTE ACTION
CGM Duo Bring Strong Recent Runs to NHRA Midwest Nationals This Weekend
MADISON, IL – Blake Alexander and Chad Green are seeking to improve a position this weekend (Sept. 26-28) at the NHRA Midwest
Nationals at World Wide Technology Raceway after the two CGM Funny Car drivers reached the final round the last two races.
Last weekend at Charlotte, Green drove his CGM Bond-Coast Ford Mustang to the final round in the NHRA Four-Wide Carolina Nationals with solid victories over former World Champions Cruz Pedregon and Jack Beckman in route to his second 2025 final round. Green won the season-opening NHRA Gatornationals in March.
Meanwhile, Alexander returns to action this weekend in the CGM Pronto Auto Services Dodge Hellcat after a final round appearance at Reading and a semifinals performance at Indianapolis and goes for his fifth career victory when qualifying begins Friday (Sept. 26) at 6 p.m. CDT.
“It’s been good for the CGM two-car team in recent weeks with Blake and I going to the final round,” said Green, the Midland, Tex., businessman when he isn’t driving a 12,000-horsepower Funny Car. “But we want to get to the winner’s circle now and the St. Louis race would be perfect for one of us to win. We think our cars are capable of winning races right now.
“Both race cars have been more consistent lately and the WWTR track can be tricky with heat and humidity. But our teams’ have been very good in the tougher conditions. So, we are very enthusiastic entering this weekend. It feels good to have Blake and I get win lights lately.”
Alexander, the Charlotte, N.C., veteran driver, sees more potential with his CGM Pronto team which was just established this year.
“Our new Pronto team has made some great strides this year considering it is all new – new car, new parts and new crew,” said Alexander. “We lost a cylinder in the Reading final or we had good chance to win that one. But we have learned more in recent weeks and I’m excited for the St. Louis race. We have a lot of folks from Dobbs Tire coming to watch and get a ‘close-up’ view of the action. It’s fun to introduce new fans to drag racing. It’s quite an experience for them.
“The St. Louis race is usually very competitive, and I expect the same this weekend. We will see how the track and weather conditions are entering Friday’s qualifying. We’ll have later runs at night which will be better for the teams and very exciting for the fans. They love to see the flames from the headers at night. It’s fun to driving our nitro cars at night too.”
Green and Alexander will be back in action for the third straight weekend at World Wide Technology Raceway for the annual NHRA Midwest Nationals. Qualifying action starts on Friday, Sept. 26, with rounds at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. CDT. On Saturday, Sept. 27, the nitro sessions are set for 12:15 p.m. and 3 p.m. CDT with final eliminations scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. CDT. The Fox Sports 1 telecast at the Midwest Nationals will begin at 3 p.m. EDT.
