Beckman’s best run of 2014 qualifies Infinite Hero Dodge 5th; Schumacher quickest for DSR in Top Fuel at Summernationals

ENGLISHTOWN, NJ Jack Beckman in Don Schumacher Racing’s Infinite Hero Foundation/Valvoline Dodge Charger R/T produced DSRthe quickest run of Saturday’s qualifying in the 45th annual NHRA Summernationals at Englishtown, N.J.

Jack’s time of 4.017 seconds at 318.99 mph for his team led by crew chief Rob Flynn moved up to the No. 5 qualifying position for Sunday’s championship eliminations at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

The Infinite Hero team was the most consistent over four qualifying sessions with runs ranging from the 4.017 to the slowest at 4.085.


The only other DSR Funny Car team to qualify in the top-eight is Tommy Johnson Jr., who was No. 8 in the Make-A-Wish Dodge and he will face teammate Ron Capps and the NAPA AUTO PARTS team in the opening round.

In Top Fuel, seven-time world champion Tony Schumacher was quickest of the DSR dragsters with a time of 3.784 (316.75) that earned him the No. 8 spot for eliminations but he will be paired with teammate Antron Brown and the Matco Tools team in the first round.

The Summernationals is the last of three Mello Yello Series events in three weeks. The series is off next weekend before beginning a four-week stretch of four races.
