CONCORD,NC– College student and Funny Car driver Blake Alexander has been doing a lot of studying over the past few weeks. In between college classes, he studies the staging process that is necessary for this weekend’s NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway. The driver of the Auto Service Plus Funny Car is ready for the challenge.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to take part in the four-wide race. I’ve talked with Paul and John Smith about the process, on top of studying video of past 4-Wide Nationals runs. Ultimately the staging process is the only thing that’s different for me. It will take more time and focus to get it right,” claimed Alexander.

Blake and the Paul Smith-led team have experience at the Bellagio of drag strips. Blake tested at zMax Dragway in the Paul Smith’s Top Fuel School Funny Car last year during his licensing time. The Paul Smith Racing team experienced success at last year’s 4-Wide Nationals, and they’re shooting for even more success this year.

“The car ran a 4.14 off the trailer here last year and moved on to the second round. We’re going to put that tune-up in it for the first run to try for a representative run, and then we’ll gradually try to incorporate new equipment into the mix,” said Alexander.

Blake Alexander will also debut the new Auto Service Plus wrap this weekend. His first run will be on Friday afternoon at 2pm. The 4-Wide Nationals take place at zMax Dragway inConcord,North Carolina. Two and a half hours of qualifying coverage will air on ESPN2 from 5-7:30 pm on Saturday, with three hours of eliminations starting at 7 pm on Sunday night.

Fans are encouraged to join Blake at a “Tweet-up”, hosted by John Amorosano and the Nitro Twitter Group, on Saturday night at 7:30 pm. The tweet-up will be at the Concord Mills Mall Dave & Busters.
