Al-Anabi Racing Making Laps On the Countdown to Indy
Shawn Langdon, Al-Anabi Racing Top Fuel Dragster (silver)
Qualifying: Shawn Langdon was the No. 1 qualifier at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Northwest Nationals. During the first round of qualifying on Saturday, Langdon blasted down the track with a 3.765-second pass at 320.58 mph setting the track record for elapsed time. It was Langdon’s fourth No. 1 qualifier of the season and the 10th of his career.
Eliminations: Langdon defeated Trop Buff and Steve Torrence before losing to Morgan Lucas in the semifinals.
Unofficial Point Standings: Langdon remains first in the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel point standings. He leads second-place Tony Schumacher by 147 points.
Langdon on Seattle: “The Al-Anabi car was excellent this weekend. We made some really good, strong runs and set the track ET (elapsed time) record in qualifying. The car was just as good today, but the track was hotter, and in the semifinals, we were trying to make another good run and just got a little too aggressive so we smoked the tires. We increased our points lead so it was still a very good weekend.”
Khalid alBalooshi – Al- Anabi Racing Top Fuel Dragster (gold)
Qualifying: Khalid alBalooshi was the No. 4 qualifier at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Northwest Nationals. During the second qualifying round on Saturday, alBalooshi recorded a 3.781-second pass at 320.36 mph.
Eliminations: AlBalooshi defeated Brittany Force before losing to Morgan Lucas in the second round of eliminations when a spark plug broke causing the engine to drop a cylinder.
Unofficial Point Standings: AlBalooshi remains sixth in the NHRA Mello Yello Top Fuel point standings. He trails fifth-place Doug Kalitta by 36 points and leads seventh-place Morgan Lucas by 36 Points.
AlBalooshi on Seattle: “Our Al-Anabi car was very good until the second round today. We made good qualifying runs, and the first round was also very good. In the second round, a spark plug broke, and we dropped a cylinder. Morgan won the race, but it is OK. This is the race and things like this happen. We are all ready for a week off, and we will be ready for Brainerd in two weeks.”
