FORMER NHRA WORLD FINALS CHAMPION CHAD GREEN SETS SIGHTS ON ANOTHER POMONA WIN THIS WEEKEND WITH TEAMMATE BLAKE ALEXANDER SET FOR BATTLE
Green, Alexander hit the Pomona Drag Strip after strong Funny Car testing session
POMONA, CA – Funny Car racer Chad Green returns to the sight of his first NHRA national event victory this weekend (Nov. 14-16) in the
NHRA Mission season finale drag race, the In-N-Out Burger World Finals at the famed Los Angeles County Fairgrounds.
Two years ago, Green pulled off an upset win over Tim Wilkerson at the In-N-Out Pomona Dragstrip, driving his CGM Bond-Coat Ford Mustang to an initial triumph to close out the 2023 NHRA national campaign. The Midland, Tex., racer scored his second NHRA national event win earlier this year with a victory at the NHRA Gatonationals in Gainesville, Fla.
Green, a former ProMod competitor, has vaulted from 12th in NHRA Mission Funny Car points to seventh in the last four events when Chad advanced to the finals and semifinals with his Flying H/Bond-Coat Ford Mustang Funny Car. Now, Green has a chance to move into the top five with the World Finals counting for extra points.
Both Green and his CGM teammate Blake Alexander, driving the Pronto Auto Service Centers Dodge//SRT Hellcat, are seeking another win after a strong testing session last week in Las Vegas.
“Our team has put together a solid performance in the past two months, and it would be awesome to win the World Finals,” said Green. “It was special to get that win in 2023. I think we learned more about our cars in the recent testing too. I know our team is well-prepared for the Pomona weekend and we are expecting cooler temperatures too.”
Alexander, a four-time NHRA national event winner, has driven his CGM Pronto Auto Services Dodge//SRT Hellcat Funny Car to runner-up at Reading as well as semifinal finishes with his first-year crew. Chad Green Motorsports expanded from one Funny Car to two machines in 2025.
“It has been a learning year for the Pronto team with me as a new driver to the team and all of the crew guys are in their first year together,” said Alexander. “But, overall, we have been improving in several areas, and we are working with a new fuel system too. But the Las Vegas test was very promising, and we are anxious to get to Pomona. Chad has won there before, and we believe we are ready for a strong weekend.”
The two Chad Green Motorsports Funny Car racers are scheduled to be in action at the In-N-Out Burger World Finals on Friday, Nov. 14, with qualifying rounds at 1:30 and 4 p.m. PST. Saturday’s (Nov. 15) qualifying will take place at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. PST, with final eliminations on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 11 a.m. PST. Fox Sports 1 will telecast Sunday’s eliminations at 2 p.m. PST/5 p.m. EST.
