Courtney Force, Ashley Force Hood celebrate Community Read Day at elementary school

YORBA LINDA, CA – Advance Auto Parts driver Courtney Force and John Force Racing vice president Ashley Force Hood returned to their elementary school Wednesday, reading to and spending time with a group of kindergartners.

Travis Ranch Elementary School celebrated the birthday of children’s author Dr. Seuss by hosting Community Read Day, and the Force women volunteered to help out. Two kindergarten classes were combined into one, and Force and Force Hood each read a book to the children.

Courtney Force chose to read “Little Blue Truck Leads the Way” to the classes, while Ashley Force Hood read “Don’t Push the Button!”

The Forces also answered numerous questions, donned helmets, boots and gloves and later posed for a photo with the children with the PEAK Funny Car on the school’s playground. JFR donated a race car to the school several years ago.

“It was really cool to read to them and have them ask a bunch of questions about how fast we go, if we’ve won races,” Courtney Force said. “They had a lot of great questions, so it was a lot of fun to talk to them and hang out with them.”

Courtney Force, 28, drives the Advance Auto Parts Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car for JFR. She has eight victories in her career and currently sits third in the points standings after the opening two races of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.

Force Hood, 34, leads JFR’s video production team. She is a two-time U.S. Nationals champion who has four victories during her driving career.

“This was the school all the Force girls attended,” Courtney Force said. “We went back to the old classroom that Ashley and I once were in. It was a blast from the past.”
