Final fine-tune for Arana Sr. may be the needed difference in Epping
EPPING, NH – With only a couple of weeks for a turnaround, Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Hector Arana Sr. has been working hard to
get his bike in pristine condition for the Auto-Plus NHRA New England Nationals, June 19-22, at New England Dragway in Epping.
Fighting minor issues all season, the Lucas Oil Buell is receiving a final tune-up before Arana Racing heads to Epping. While it may seem last-minute, Arana knows that all the hard work now will pay off in the end.
“Right now I feel like I need a miracle,” Arana said. “I feel like we are so far behind and we are still working and trying to get the bikes right a few days before we have to leave for Epping. In fact, we are waiting for parts to come in so we can put the engine together, but I know that if we get done on time, everything should be good for this weekend.
“We’re going to attack it like we always do: Use Q1 to give us a good baseline and go from there. We just want to go down the track from point A to point B initially. If we can get good data from that, we know what direction we need to go to keep continuing to go faster and be more consistent.”
No matter how Arana feels about his chances this weekend, he always loves racing in Epping, not only for the track but for the great fan base that comes out to support NHRA and Pro Stock Motorcycle.
“I really love Epping,” Arana said. “It’s a great track but the most important thing there is the fans. It’s one of the best places we go for fans, which is awesome. I’m really looking forward to going to Epping and giving those fans a great show.”
Arana hopes to continue to move in the right direction when qualifying sessions take place at 4:15 and 6:45 p.m., Friday, and 12:15 and 2:45 p.m., Saturday. Eliminations will start at noon, Sunday, with both qualifying and elimination action broadcast on ESPN2.
