ROOKIE BRITTANY FORCE READY TO RACE THE BIG GO

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The biggest race of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season is upon us as competitors prepare for the Brittany ForceChevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway on Labor Day weekend in Indianapolis. This is the Super Bowl of the NHRA, and to win this event is on top of every driver’s wish list. For Top Fuel rookie Brittany Force, winning this race would be a dream come true.

Force, the third oldest child of 15-time world champion John Force, has seen her father as well as older sister, Ashley, win this prestigious race. To prepare for this race, Force and her entire Castrol EDGE team spent two days testing at the Indy track hoping to learn some new setups.

“It was a tough two days of testing for us,” Force said. “We were trying to make a lot of changes. I have three great crew chiefs and they’ve been really trying to make a lot of changes and push this Castrol EDGE dragster to run with all the other top fuel cars out there.”

Coming into “The Big Go”, the Auto Club of Southern California Road to the Future Award candidate sits 13th in the championship points standings. She understands that the ups and downs are all part of the learning process considering it is her first full season competing on the circuit.

“We weren’t able to get our dragster down the track, except on our last run when we ended up blowing it up right before I got to the lights,” Force said. “Not exactly what we wanted, but we’re hoping going into Indy next weekend that we can learn from all this, have our four qualifying passes and improve from there.”

The 27-year-old Yorba Linda, California native believes after making several runs during their test sessions will benefit her and her team when it comes to qualifying for the U.S. Nationals.

“Me being more comfortable in the car as a driver I think helps a lot going into Indy,” Force said. “Just going down the track time after time, figuring out where my groove is, where I lift and where the 1,000 foot mark has helped. I’ve made seven passes at Lucas Oil Raceway so it’s a track I’ve been down quite a bit now and that makes me feel more secure as a driver.”

Voting for the second annual Top Fuel Traxxas Nitro Shootout is still underway and Force is still hoping to hit it big and win the fan vote. She and her Castrol EDGE team are hungry to race and want to put on a stellar show for everyone in attendance.

“I would love to get that fan vote!” Force said. “I’d be the first woman to compete in the Top Fuel Traxxas Shootout, so I would love to represent all the ladies out there and really show everyone what this Castrol EDGE team is really capable of.”
