Dinwiddie, VA – Since its inception in 2004 the ADRL has been about Outlaw Door slammers. No rules but safety and a run what ya brung attitude helped make the ADRL the most popular new drag racing sanctioning body in over 30 years. This weekend the formula changed when the ADRL debuted a new legal Pro Mod class at the ADRL Speedtech U.S. Drags IV.

Team owner and driver, Mike Janis took advantage of the new Pro Mod class and brought along his NHRA legal Pro Mod along with his Outlaw Pro Extreme ride. “It was a no brainer to bring a second car,” said Janis. Our hauler is set up for it and we were coming here with the AJPE equipped Duster anyway. My initial reaction was that it would be a good way to test the Mustang before Indy but once the weekend got going it was about winning”.

While Janis was eliminated in the second round with his Outlaw ’71 Duster, from Andy McCoy Race Cars, his Eaton Aeroquip backed Mustang stretched her legs making it to the first ever ADRL Pro Modified final. On their way to the final Janis and his Mustang took out Thomas Jones and R2B2’s Leah Pruett-Leduc in the eight car format. His opponent in the final was the heavily funded AL-Anabi team driver, Khalid Al Balooshi of the Middle Eastern country of Qatar. Balooshi, who made his way to the final by taking out Lee Adkins and NHRA Pro Mod Regular, Mike Knowles, gave up lane choice to Janis.

When the tree came down on the final pair it was Janis off the line quicker with a .038 reaction time to Balooshi’s .059. When the two hit the stripe the win margin was just three one thousandths of a second with Janis taking the hole shot win with a slower elapsed time of 3.914 to Balooshi’s quicker 3.896.

“This has been a fantastic weekend. I’d like to thank Tim McAmis and the entire ADRL staff for this opportunity and I’d also like to thank all of the people and sponsors who help make this possible. Rasnick, Scott, Eric and all of the people from Eaton Aeroquip, Safety-Kleen, LAT oil, Probell, Goodyear and everyone who believes in us. It has been a long time (away from the Winner’s Circle) but we’re here and we couldn’t do it without the support of the crew, our families and our sponsors,” said Janis
