YUASA BATTERIES BACK ALLARD CHRYSLER DRAGSTER PROJECT
The Allard Chrysler Action Group (ACAG) is pleased to announce that Yuasa Battery Sales (UK) Limited has joined the list of
companies backing the restoration of Europe’s first dragster, Sydney Allard’s 1961 Allard Chrysler that is owned by the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu. The company is well known for its support of motor sport and is a global supplier of original equipment and aftermarket batteries.
In 2013 Yuasa Battery Sales (UK) Ltd announced a comprehensive automotive battery solution for the UK and pan-European markets. The new range features five battery types – YBX1000, YBX3000, YBX5000, YBX7000 Start Stop (EFB enhanced flooded battery) and YBX9000 Start Stop Plus (AGM absorbed glass mat). They all meet new EUROBAT labelling legislation directing that battery labels must accurately reflect a CCA (Cold Cranking Amp) and Ah (Ampere hour) rating.
All YBX automotive batteries from Yuasa now feature Calcium/Calcium technology with the YBX3000 and YBX5000 also benefitting from a “Tip/Tilt Double Lid” that reduces water loss by 30% and passes the German VDA vehicle roll over test for acid leakage (VDA/TL82506/GS95001). All Yuasa aftermarket batteries are manufactured to the same exacting standards as those supplied for original equipment use.
A Yuasa YBX 5334 battery is fitted to the mobile starter trolley that is used to start the engine on methanol before switching to the on-board nitro methane fuel system. The unit is of a higher rating that the two in series fitted during 2012 and 2013 and have been recommended to turn the engine faster and so improve the engine oil pressure on the initial starter motor test. At 95 Ah nominal capacity and 830A cold crank it certainly did the trick during the dragster’s first test start of the year at the end of March. We should also get more starts per charge.
