TORONTO, ON – John Orfanidis will be returning to the Pro Bike & Sled Series presented by Wiseco Performance Products in 2013 with
some new power in his Suzuki GSX-R Pro Bike.
Everything else will be pretty much the same except for the updated engine, he noted. We’ve increased the engine size from 1500 cc to 1640 cc.
Orfanidis, from Toronto, Ontario, has been a top contender in the PBSS ranks, and always qualified well in the field. But his chances of winning the gold in 2012 disappeared during the last event of the season, when the team blew up the bike’s engine at Grand Bend.
Everything was so close before that race, he said. We were leading in the points, and after losing out in Grand Bend we dropped down to sixth in points.
The rider of the Quality Automotive team did place sixth in the PBSS points in 2012. The team always qualified well with the Suzuki, and runs down the quarter mile under eight seconds at over 175 mph were the norm. The team won the inaugural event in 2012 at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan.
Along with the bigger engine, thanks to Paul Gast from Fast by Gast with Vance & Hines components and fuelled by carburetion, the GSX-R uses a Tracs chassis. Mike Henriques will return as crew chief for the team, with help from Peter Cifuentes, Alex Saragosa and Fedon Orfanidis. Sponsorship is provided by Quality Automotive, Converter Man Ltd. and Diamond Trans.
Orfanidis said the PBSS is a great series and with good competitors. He added he will be ready for the season opener, and is looking for more success in 2013.
We’re definitely going to be pushing and striving for a better season, he said. We want to win and we’re going to go to the max. We are certainly eager and ready to go.
Orfanidis and the team will be ready to go for the first of six events of the 2013 PBSS season, when the series begins May 10-11 at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin. The PBSS will compete with its companion series, the Pro Modified Racing Association and the Quick 32 Sportsman Series at events this year, offering an exciting and complete package of drag racing action.
The Pro Bike & Sled Series, www.PBSS.ca, also competes with its two companion series, the Pro Modified Racing Association, www.PMRA.ca and the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, www.Quick32.ca providing fans and exciting and complete experience of drag racing action.
