Toyota Racing NHRA Pomona Preview

BROWN HEADS TO POMONA AS CHAMPION – Antron Brown will head to Pomona as the Top Fuel world champion after wrapping up his second title at the Toyota Nationals in Las Vegas. Brown has earned a career-best seven wins and has put together an impressive 16-2 won-loss record in the five Countdown races. He won his first championship in 2012. His title marks the fifth for a Toyota Top Fuel driver since 2010 (Larry Dixon – 2010, Del Worsham – 2011, Brown – 2012, 2015 and Shawn Langdon – 2013).

WORSHAM EYES FUNNY CAR CROWN AT POMONA – Del Worsham will take a 38-point lead over Jack Beckman into the NHRA finals this weekend. The southern California native will try to win his first Funny Car championship at the track where he made his Funny Car debut 25 years in 1990. Worsham could become just the third driver in NHRA history to win titles in both Top Fuel and Funny Car, joining Kenny Bernstein and Gary Scelzi. Worsham has won three times in the five Countdown races (Charlotte, St. Louis, Dallas) and takes a 13-2 round win-loss record into Pomona.

TOYOTA TF DRIVERS LOOK FOR SEVENTH STRAIGHT FINALS WIN – Toyota Top Fuel drivers will be looking for their seventh consecutive win at the NHRA Finals at Pomona this weekend. The streak began in 2009 with Antron Brown, who repeated in 2010. Other Toyota Finals winners include Del Worsham in 2011, Brandon Bernstein in 2012, Shawn Langdon in 2013 and Morgan Lucas last season. Lucas will be back in a second car this weekend for Morgan Lucas Racing.

FREE MAMMOGRAMS FOR THE FANS WRAP-UP – Alexis DeJoria Racing’s ‘Free Mammograms for the Fans’ campaign was able to provide 115 women with free screenings. The program offered fans the opportunity to receive a free mammogram, regardless of health insurance status, while attending the NHRA FallNationals in Dallas and the NHRA Toyota Nationals in Las Vegas. According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime. Toyota joined Patr?n as presenting sponsors of the program.
