Toyota Norwalk NHRA Preview

BROWN HEADS TO NORWALK AFTER CHICAGO VICTORY – Antron Brown will head to Norwalk fresh off his fourth victory Toyota Logoof the season in Chicago last weekend.  Brown, who leads Top Fuel in wins, is once again in the midst of a championship hunt.  He currently stands second, just 102 points out of the top spot.  It’s a familiar position for Brown as it’s the fourth straight season he’s running in the top three in points – having placed second overall a year ago, winning the Top Fuel world championship in 2012 and placing third in 2011.   During that time frame, no other driver has accomplished the feat more than twice.   It’s fitting since Brown has won 20 races over the last three and a half seasons, far out-distancing any other driver in the series.

AL-ANABI LOOKS TO CONTINUE NORWALK SUCCESS – The Al-Anabi Racing team is one of the most successful in NHRA drag racing and its success at Norwalk is indicative of that.  The team has registered Top Fuel wins on the Ohio track in three of the past four years and with three different drivers.  Khalid alBalooshi won the 2013 event, Del Worsham took home the Wally in 2011 and Larry Dixon was victorious in 2010

TOYOTA DRIVERS PUSH FOR COUNTDOWN – With just six races remaining in the NHRA regular season, seven Toyota drivers are currently on pace to qualify for the Countdown to the Championship playoffs.  In Top Fuel, all four Toyota drivers would qualify with Antron Brown second, Shawn Langdon third, Khalid alBalooshi eighth and Richie Crampton ninth.   Three Toyota Camry drivers would qualify in the ultra-competitive Funny Car ranks as Alexis DeJoria (fifth), Del Worsham (eighth) and Cruz Pedregon (ninth) are all on pace to qualify.  Just 67 points separate fourth and 11th in the series.
