Tommy Franklin Goes Down in History as First Ever Flatout Gaskets Nitrous Wars Victor

PITTSBORO, NC – With the air and the Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park eighth-mile primed for record breaking Tommy Franklin - First Nitrous Wars winnerruns that’s exactly what PDRA Series Opener fans got. This meant it would take a career best for someone to take home the Flatout Gaskets Nitrous Wars Trophy, just introduced at this race. The trophy, a large nitrous bottle, would be the Pro Nitrous number one qualifier’s to take home from Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park for bragging rights until the next event, in which it is to be handed off to the next pole sitter.

In the third round of qualifying on Friday evening, the first pair out featured Virginia’s Tommy Franklin and Georgia’s “Stevie Fast” Jackson. Fans could feel it in the air. They were about to witness something spectacular. Franklin and Jackson recorded the quickest and fastest side-by-side run in the history of the class. Both ran over 203 MPH and Franklin edged out Jackson with a 3.686 elapsed time to Jackson’s 3.697.

Although the class had one final qualifying run on Saturday morning, no one was able to top Franklin, and so he was immortalized as the first-ever Flatout Gaskets Nitrous Wars Champion. “The track was tight and the weather came to us,” said Franklin, an electrical company owner from Fredericksburg, VA. “We really didn’t do anything different for that round, everything just came to us and it worked out in our favor–but just barely. Thank you Pat Musi for the awesome power.”
