CAYUGA, ON – In the Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series, Labour Day weekend has always brought intense competition as drivers vie for top spots in the popular sportsman series’ points chase.  This weekend will be no different when the TNTSS rolls into Cayuga Dragway on September 1-2 for a drag racing double-header powered by Bieda’s Powersports.

The final Canadian stop on the TNTSS 2012 schedule, this weekend should see a strong turnout of both racers and fans.  Joe Boniferro, series title sponsor, is very much looking forward to it.  “The series drew a record car count the last time we were here back in June.  With two complete points races plus the ROC, I expect we’ll break that record this weekend.”

The ROC that Joe refers to is the Performance Improvements TNTSS Race of Champions.  It’s a free race for TNTSS event winners only that will be held on Saturday night with a purse valued at $1800.00.

At last year’s Labour Day weekend events, eventual 2011 series champion David Surmatchewski solidified his points lead by running the table and winning both days.

And while David is still a significant threat to repeat, the story right now is Jon Jablonski and Chris VanBaalen.  They are tied for first place with Harry Phelps only 11 points back and Tom Coonly only 5 more behind Harry.

“There’s only 16 points separating fourth from first.  Anything can, and usually does, happen,” added Joe.

Part of the Canadian Funny Car Championships, this weekend will also feature the NDRA Alcohol Funny Cars, Nitro Harleys, rounds in the Can Am Stock / Super Stock Series and the DSE Sportsman Bracket Series.

Gates open at 6:00pm on Friday for weekend camping and Saturday morning at 9:00am with qualifying starting at 11:00am.  Visit www.torontomotorsportspark.com for more information.
