The WCOPMA gets ready for Firebird Raceway’s “Nightfire Nationals” event this weekend

Boise, ID The West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association is getting ready for one of the biggest events of the year on the west coast, Dan MyersFirebird Raceway’s 42nd annual Nightfire Nationals in Boise, Idaho! The Nightfire event is one of the biggest events on our schedule for the last three seasons and guys like Bret Williamson, Rod Burbage and Dan Myers all stood in the Nightfire winners circle holding up the “Wally” and this year we’ll add another name to the list.

With a stout pre entry list there is no telling who the last man, or woman this year, will be in the winner’s circle. Names like defending Nightfire champ Dan Myers will be there driving the new Don Carter Racing 1969 Camaro which just ripped off 5.70’s in Sonoma two weekends ago, Marc Meadors lowered Firebird Raceway’s track record to a 5.91 backed up with a 5.93 in June at the tracks “Fox Hunt” event and Meadors was also the runner up at the Nightfire Nationals last year.

Past Nightfire champion Rod Burbage is looking for another Nightfire winners circle celebration and the list goes on and on with names like Lee Smith who has won in Boise multiple times, Tim “TK” Krupa who is a WCOPMA event winner this year already in Las Vegas, Jeremy Hanger has the “Kuhnes Power” to hurt some feelings and long time Pro Mod racer John Scialpi knows where Boise’s winner circle is at.

We’re welcoming first time WCOPMA racers Michael Weiss and Mike Gondziola at this year’s Nightfire Nationals, Weiss in a roots blown 53 Corvette who has ran low 6.30’s and Gondziola who is a 6.0-nitrous player from Canada in a 68 Camaro. Craig Cawte ran last year’s Nightfire event with us in his nitrous powered 68 Camaro and this year he is in an Al Billes powered supercharged Camaro that just took the runner up honors at the ADRL event in Memphis just this past weekend in the legal Pro Mod class. And we cannot forget the woman in the bunch; Yvonne Lucas is coming swinging with her nitrous fed 1968 Camaro from Washington to beat up on all the boys and show she can hang with the best!

The Nightfire Nationals event kicks off for us on Friday with one qualifying pass scheduled for 7pm. Saturday we will have two more qualifying hits scheduled for 2pm and 7pm. Eliminations for the 8-car qualified field start on Sunday with the first round at 2pm.
