The Quick 32 Sportsman Series Countdown to the 2014 Championship

The Top Dragster Team of Sam Christian and John Fletcher – Fifth Place

CAYUGA, ON – Driving the John Fletcher-owned Top Dragster entry, Amherst New York’s Sam Christian finished in fifth spot in the 2014 Sam ChristianQuick 32 Sportsman Series Championship Point Award Series.

The series, presented by NAPA Auto Parts, has now completed its sixth year of operation.

Christian’s season was highlighted with a pair of final rounds in Top Dragster, where he was eliminated by Buddy Forrest of Rochester, New York at Empire Dragway and at the Grand Bend Motorplex later in the season, where he was eliminated by Stratford, Ontario’s Mike Everitt.

Christian qualified about midway in the field for all the shows and went rounds in the other events. His car is capable of running the quarter-mile in the six-second range at speeds approaching 200 mph. As a testament the extremely close racing in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, the two final round losses that he incurred were the result of a combined .005 seconds in reaction times and dial-ins.

Powered by a 632-cubic inch engine from Spina’s Racing Engines, the 2007 Racecraft dragster features a Powerglide transmission with a nine-inch converter from Competition Transmission, a Killer Ron’s Twin Terminator fuel system, and a SC Raceworks nitrous oxide system.

Car owner/Crew chief for the effort is John Fletcher, with help from Shari and Alex Christian. Sponsorship comes from Breathing Air Resources and John Fletcher, and Sam’s Mom.

Christian will be honored at the upcoming “Night of Champions” Championship Point Award Series Banquet for the Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA), the Quick 32 Sportsman Series and the Pro Bike & Sled Series (PBSS) will be held at the Burlington Hotel & Conference Centre in Burlington, Ontario on Saturday, November 8, 2014.
