Glen Vardy and his Top Dragster – Fourth Place
CAYUGA, ON – After starting in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series in 2012, Glen Vardy and his Top Dragster entry were a force to reckon with this
past season.
Running an alcohol-fueled supercharged dragster, Vardy, of Burlington, Ontario, recorded some impressive numbers is the series’ sixth season, presented by NAPA Auto Parts.
For the first race of 2014 Vardy qualified number two at the Grand Bend Motorplex and went all the way to take the event, beating Toronto’s Tony Positano in the Top Dragster final and eliminating Top Sportsman driver and 2013 series champion Bill Wilson in the event final.
The team always qualified well in the field with a car capable of passes just over the six-second mark at speeds of over 230 mph.
Between the frame rails of the The Juggernaut chassis sits a 509-cubic inch Dart Big Block engine with a ProCharger blower on top and a belt-driven alcohol fuel system. A two-speed modified Powerglide transmission is coupled to the engine. Crew chief for the team is Steve Vardy, with Colleen Cook, Brian Vardy and Jackie Hill assisting in the effort.
