CAYUGA, ON – Eric Latino had a stellar year in the Pro Modified Racing Association, winning Championship Points Award Series for 2012 presented by Global Emissions Systems, Inc.

The Whitby, Ontario resident and driver of the Team Green Chevy Camaro Pro Modified won two events in the 2012 seven-race series with 1756 points, and the title was not declared until the final race of the season in a closely-contested battle with three-time PMRA champion Bruce Boland, who placed second.

Latino qualified for all PMRA events this year, but was not off to a great start with a first-round loss at the season opener at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park.

His record improved with a final round appearance at the next event, at Martin, Michigan, losing to Jack Grainy of North Tonawanda, New York in the final. He qualified fifth at the Nitro Nationals at Cayuga, but went out in the semi against Boland, of Hamilton, Ontario.

All the stars were aligned for the team during the IHRA Nitro Jam event at Grand Bend as Latino qualified number four and went through the field to win the event. He was a first-round loser for the next two races, but returned to his winning ways by capturing the final race of the PMRA season, qualifying number one during the Grand Bend Labor Day event and taking the win over Jay Santos of Halton Hills, Ontario in the final.

The championship was the first for Latino, and with his two wins in 2012 he is third in wins with five in all-time PMRA competition.

Owned by Latino and Rob and Ann Sporring, the 1969 Camaro is powered by a BAE hemi engine with a Kobelco supercharger and Leahy fuel system, both tweaked by Al Billes. A Cynergy Composites body sits atop of the G-Force Race Cars product. The car has recorded sub six-second runs down the quarter mile at speeds over 240 mph.

Paolo D’Alimonte is crew chief for the team, and Peter Olin acts as car chief. Others on Team Green are Matt Latino, Gord Campbell, Nick Campbell, Rikkie Rumball, Terri Cowl, and Paul Bassil. A special thanks goes to Sue Latino for her support.
