Hebron OH – There will be a total of four JEGS Mail Order entries in competition this weekend at the NHRA Lucas Oil Division 3 event at National Trail Raceway. John Coughlin will race in Top Dragster while his brother Mike plans to compete in Top Sportsman and nephew Troy Jr. will be racing in Super Comp. In addition, third-generation Makenna Brown will be racing her Jr. Dragster at the event.

With two wins in the first four events of the season, Mike Coughlin is the current points leader in the Top Sportsman class. Mike is seeking to win his third championship in the last five years.

Although he has competed in just three Lucas Oil Series events this season, T.J. Coughlin is currently ranked 14th in the Division 3 Super Comp standings. Last season, T.J. was NHRA’s eighth-ranked Super Comp driver nationally.

All told, the Coughlin brothers, John, Troy, Mike and Jeg Jr., have combined to win 11 national events at National Trail Raceway, the team’s longtime home track. They have also tallied five runner-up finishes here.

John has won a NHRA national event in Columbus three times. He claimed the Super Stock title in 2003, the Pro Stock Truck title in 1999 and the Super Gas title in 1993.

Mike has scored NHRA national titles in Columbus five times. He won the Top Sportsman titles in 2009, 2007 and 2006 and also won back-to-back Super Comp titles in 2002 and 2003.

In her most recent NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League event, 11-year old Makenna Brown recorded a double win at Pacemakers Dragway Park in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Makenna won the track’s regular points event and then returned later in the day to win the second-chance race.

Makenna Brown is also the defending champion of the Jr. Dragster race at the National Trail Raceway Lucas Oil Series event.

Team JEGS Drivers have combined to win 52 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series events including three at National Trail Raceway. Family patriarch Jeg Coughlin Sr. won the Pro Comp title in 1976, while John won the Super Stock crown in 2002 and Mike won the Top Sportsman championship in 2007.

Jeg Sr. won the team’s first Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Windsor Dragway in 1969 when he defeated Carl Heichel to win the Super Eliminator title.

As the home track for the JEGS Mail Order team, the Coughlin family has made countless runs on the National Trail Raceway quarter-mile. In addition to their multiple race appearances each year, they also use the facility as their official test track.
