STAR DRAG RACING CARS ON STAGE AT GALA

Rat Trap and Havoc at the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame Gala

The British Drag Racing Hall of Fame is proud to announce that two iconic drag racing vehicles will be on display at rat-trap-and-havocthe Gala Dinner to be held on 19 November at the Sheraton Skyline Hotel. The Fuel Altereds Rat Trap and Havoc are both based on a 1932 Austin Bantam roadster, but utilise nitro burning supercharged Hemi engines to travel the quarter mile in six seconds at over 230mph. Both will be specially transported to the hotel to be part of the celebrations, including many VIPs from the world of drag racing. What a great souvenir photo opportunity for those attending!

Ron Hope, US-based owner and driver of Rat Trap, has been thrilling crowds in the UK and Germany this summer, running several match races with Havoc, owned by Britain’s Rob Loaring and Nick Davies and driven by Nick. Ron is a great supporter of the BDRHoF, and Rob Loaring is also being inducted for his 25 year career in engineering and tuning championship winning cars in the UK.

Ron said, ‘When we received the invitation to have Rat Trap on display at the Gala Dinner we felt really honoured that our car will be the focus of so many drag racing legends. After racing at Santa Pod in 2014 and 2016 and in Hockenheim this summer, it is really the icing on the cake.’

Rob Loaring said, ‘Nick and I have been really over the moon with the reception that Havoc has received over the years, and are looking forward with great excitement to taking it to tour the US and race Rat Trap at key Nostalgia events in 2017.’ BDRHoF Sponsorship Partner Beech Underwriting has been instrumental in arranging for Havoc’s forthcoming US Tour.

The BDRHoF is also announcing that long time sponsors Rat Trap Racing and US Automotive are sponsoring the table wine at this year’s Gala. BDRHoF Chair Stu Bradbury said, ‘We warmly thank Ron Hope of Rat Trap Racing and Stewart Bassett of US Automotive for their wonderful generosity in providing the wine for this year’s Gala Dinner and are sure the Fuel Altereds will provide a fantastic photo opportunity at the event.’

The BDRHoF wants to thank Santa Pod Raceway and the whole crew for providing some of the most exciting racing seen in Europe this year. Their involvement in bringing the Fuel Altereds across to Europe has produced some of the highlights of the year and brought back fabulous memories to those of us who remember cars like Tee-Rat and Shutdown.
