ProtectTheHarvest.com/MAVTV rider Arana looking for successful Atlanta debut

ATLANTA, GA – Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Adam Arana may be in his sophomore season, but this weekend’s May 16-18 Summit Protect The HarvestRacing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals will mark his first start at Atlanta Dragway.

While the ProtectTheHarvest.com/MAVTV Buell rider may have never seen the Atlanta track before, Arana will have the same knowledge as everyone else thanks to his team, which will make his learning curve a little easier.

“Heading to Atlanta this weekend kind of reminds me of how I felt last year as a rookie racing at a track for the first time, but I’m not as anxious about my chances there, ” Arana said. “Both my dad and brother have raced there before, so I know they can help fill me in on what to expect.

“Besides that, everyone else had a year off from racing at Atlanta, so for the most part we will all be starting off in the same place.”

Even though the entire Pro Stock Motorcycle field will be on the same page after having a year off from racing at Atlanta Dragway, Arana is keeping a realistic approach for his performance this weekend.

“I do know that I’m going to be a little lost in the first round of qualifying Friday in Atlanta,” Arana said. “We have struggled the beginning of this season when it comes to the initial setup of the bikes. That issue along with this being my first time seeing the track, I know things may start off a little shaky.

“I’m not worried though because after Charlotte I regained confidence in the motor, which will help a lot when it comes to my riding confidence.”

Arana will look to make a successful Atlanta Dragway debut when the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event kicks off with qualifying at 4:15 p.m. ET Friday and a second session at 6:30 p.m. the same day. Two more qualifying sessions will be held at 12:30 and 3:15 p.m. Saturday, with eliminations starting at 11 a.m. Sunday. ESPN2 will carry a qualifying package from 6 to 8 p.m. ET Saturday and eliminations from 9 p.m. to noon Sunday.
