Phillip Franklin Sets New NHRDA Super Street World Records at Oklahoma Diesel Nationals

Phillip Franklin of San Antonio, Texas proved to the world that his 8 second pass at the Texas Diesel Nationals was no fluke. Franklin came into the Oklahoma Diesel Nationals with the World Records clearly in his sights.

In qualifying Franklin made his quickest pass ever laying down an 8.853 at 158.89 mph not only making him the #1 qualifier but smashing the previous records of 9.006 seconds and 155.01 mph.

During eliminations Franklin matched up against Chris Buhidar in the semi-finals with all eyes on both racers seeing who would win but also if Franklin could back up his qualifying time and mph. Buhidar got the win but Franklin ran another 8.853 to cement the Super Street World Records as his!

After the event Franklin said, “It is a great honor to get both the ET and MPH NHRDA Super Street World Records. My team and I have put in some long nights to get the truck to run these kind of numbers and we know that we need to keep pushing the limits.”

Phillip and his team are also leading the National Points chase as we start the busy summer of the Hot Shot’s Diesel Drag Racing Series, “We plan on hitting most the events left with a couple of exceptions, I really want to be holding the Super Street National Championship Trophy at the awards banquet in Texas.”

“I wouldn’t be here without the help from my sponsors Truck Source Diesel, Goerend Transmission, Parks Engine Service, S&S Diesel Motorsport, Granby Truck Shop and SoCal Diesel, for helping me along the way,” Phillip had to say after the race. The team will now look to Diesels on the Mountain on June 10th at Bandimere Speedway.
