PEDREGON, LANGDON LEAD TOYOTA IN DENVER NHRA QUALIFYING

MORRISON, CO Cruz Pedregon qualified fourth in Funny Cars, while Shawn Langdon placed fifth in Top Fuel to lead Toyota in Toyota Logoqualifying for Sunday’s Mile-High NHRA Nationals at the Bandimere Speedway in suburban Denver.

For Pedregon, it marks the fourth time this season he’s qualified in the top-four in his Snap-on Tools Toyota Camry.  He will face Terry Haddock in Sunday’s opening round.

Alexis DeJoria placed ninth, while Kalitta Motorsports teammate Del Worsham was 10th.   DeJoria matches up against Matt Hagan, while Worsham will go head-to-head with Courtney Force.  Tony Pedregon rounds out the Camry contingent in 14th and will take on Tim Wilkerson.

Langdon registered his ninth top-five qualifying effort in 14 races this season with his fifth-place showing.   He will race fellow Toyota driver Richie Crampton in the first round of eliminations on Sunday.

Antron Brown was one spot behind Langdon in sixth.   He will square off with Doug Kalitta in the marquee match-up of tomorrow’s opening round, featuring the top two driver in Top Fuel points.  Brown has gained three points in qualifying and enters tomorrow’s race just 35 points out of the top spot.  He will be shooting for his third consecutive Top Fuel win.

Khalid alBalooshi made it three Toyota Top Fuelers in the top half of the field with an eighth.  His opening round opponent will be Brittany Force.

Sunday’s Mello Yello Drag Racing Series eliminations will be televised on ESPN beginning at 2:30 p.m. with the final two rounds scheduled to be televised live on the network.
