LONDON, ON – The champ is back. The champion of the first year of Pro Bike & Sled Series presented by Wiseco Performance Products will return for the 2012 season of drag racing competition, and London’s Randy Hope said he won’t be making any major changes.

“We’ll be doing a little bit of maintenance,” said the 1978 Kawasaki Z-1R rider. “We’re planning on keeping the same program and look for more consistency.”

Hope, who rides in the Pro Bike division of the series, qualified for all six events last season, with two event wins in PBSS action. He travels the quarter mile in the mid-eight second range with speeds of 150 to 160 mph.

Started in 2011, the PBSS is compromised of Pro Bike and Pro Sled entries.

The chassis of the Lil’ Hope entry was built by Bill Hope, who is also crew chief on the team. Karen, Taylor, and Samantha Hope are also a big part of the team. Hope started racing in 1995, and has been exclusively a two-wheel racer during this time.

He mentioned he may be involved with 10-year old daughter Taylor this year with her Junior Dragster effort as the next part of the family heritage, but added he is getting ready for a return to the PBSS for 2012.

“You couldn’t look for a better venue to go racing,” he said. “The program helps us low-budget guys, and for the first time in 15 years I turned a profit racing.”

The season gets underway with the Victoria Day Weekend Challenge May 18-20 at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park.

The Pro Bike & Sled Series, www.PBSS.ca will race six times in 2012. The series also competes with its two companion series, the Pro Modified Racing Association, www.PMRA.ca and the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, www.Quick32.ca offering a solid and full package of drag racing action.
