PBIR Combines Citrus Nationals and 5 day Bracket Championship

Jupiter, FL – Palm Beach International Raceway announced Tuesday their decision to combine the longtime 5 Day Bracket
5 Day Bracket ChampionshipChampionship and Bennett Auto Supply Citrus Nationals into one event to take place, November 6-10, 2013. The renamed 32nd Annual Bennett Auto Supply 5 Day Citrus Nationals will now immediately follow the Premier Winter Series Super Pro 4-Day Championship, the Super Buck Blast VII, at the South Georgia Motorsports Park, October 31 – November 3, 2013.

Palm Beach International Raceway has hosted the 5 Day Bracket Championship and Citrus Nationals as separate drag races for many years, starting back when the facility was Moroso Motorsports Park. However, Palm Beach International Raceway’s management team made the decision to combine the two races into one to accommodate the racers schedule and travel convenience.

For the last few years, the 5 Day Bracket Championship has moved dates and the Citrus Nationals has traditionally been held on Thanksgiving weekend.  The year to year date changes; off weeks between the South Georgia event and the off weeks between the 5 Day and Citrus Nationals have made it difficult for sportsman racers to stay in Florida to attend both events.

After the race in South Georgia ends, Palm Beach International Raceway invites racers to immediately start loading in at the facility on November 4to prepare for the bracket championship with the first day of races beginning on November 6, 2013.

“We are excited to announce the merger of the 5 Day Bracket Championship and the Citrus Nationals,” said Jason Rittenberry, President & CEO of Palm Beach International Raceway and IHRA Entertainment. “This is a change that will uphold the raceway’s longstanding traditions and most popular sportsman drag races, while making it easier for our racers to participate by following Georgia’s event. We hope to see many bracket racers make a return to PBIR for the 2013 winter event.”

Rittenberry added, “We are working closely with Tim Fleming and the team at SGMP to jointly promote our big buck winter bracket events’. By running them back to back we hope to increase participation in both events by making it more convenient for the racers to make one trip South for two prestigious events.”

The newly combined event will continue the tradition of five full days of bracket racing Wednesday through Sunday, whereby racers can still win up to $10k in quarter mile payouts and up to $5k in 1/8 mile payouts. In addition to the bracket championship races, the event will host the Citrus Nationals Pro Show on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon featuring the fan favorite exhibition vehicles jet cars and wheel standers. Drivers already committed to the show include the Embry Riddle Jet Cars driven by female drivers, Elaine Larsen and Marisha Falk of Larsen Motorsports.

Palm Beach International Raceway will continue to partner with Bennett Auto Supply as the title sponsor of the event. As a leader in the auto parts industry, Bennett Auto Supply has sought to support motorsport fans’ passion for racing by partnering with PBIR for the Citrus Nationals for the past eight years as the title sponsor.

All updates regarding pricing and entry forms will be published to Palm Beach International Raceway’s website RACEPBIR.com for the 32nd Annual Bennett Auto Supply 5 Day Citrus Nationals on November 6-10, 2013.
