NHRDA Raffle for JAKESAKE at the Pacific Coast Diesel Nationals

Woodburn, OR – The NHRDA and a number of national sponsors have teamed up to offer a special raffle at the NHRDA Pacific Coast Diesel Nationals presented by ISSPRO on June 29th at Woodburn Dragstrip in Woodburn, Oregon. All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the JAKESAKE charity. Tickets for the raffle contest are $2.00 for 1, $5.00 for 3 and $10.00 for 6.

Tickets will be available at the NHRDA trailer throughout the day. Winners will be drawn and then announced over the PA so if you buy a raffle ticket make sure to listen to the PA during the event. Winners must be present to win. Once a ticket has been drawn it will not go back into the draw. All winners must report to the NHRDA booth within 30 minutes of their number being drawn to claim their prizes.

About JAKESAKE:

Jake Dering was born with an extremely rare genetic disorder called Oto-Palato-Digital Syndrome Type II. This syndrome is so rare that there have been only 40 known cases reported worldwide since 1960. The family was given very little information about OPD, although they were told that those few people who are diagnosed with OPD typically don’t make it past 6 months of age due to respiratory failure. Jake has spent most of his life in and out of hospitals across the country.

His most recent surgery took place in West Palm Beach, Florida. Respiratory issues have not been the only thing that Jake has had to deal with; Jake was born with all his joints (hips, knees, ankles and elbows) severely dislocated. After searching across the country Jake’s parents found a doctor to preform reconstructive surgery on his hips and legs. Jake is now walking for the first time in his life, which is something that experts said would never happen.
