STRATFORD, ON – The Everitt Racing Team will be returning to competition in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Everitt RacingAuto Parts with some new power in its Top Dragster entry.

We’re stepping it up a bit, noted team driver and 2012 Quick 32 Sportsman Series Rookie of the Year Mike Everitt of Stratford, Ontario. We weren’t happy with our qualifying attempts last year.

So now the Mullis Race Cars chassis will house a 706-cubic inch Dart Big Chief engine, with carburetors and Speedtech nitrous assist for its second season of Quick 32 Sportsman Series racing, replacing the previous 632-cubic inch engine of last year. The car will continue to use a Hutch’s Transmission Service transmission to convey the power of the new engine to the track.

The team, headed up by crew chief Ken Everitt and car owner Sheila Everitt, qualified for all but one event in 2012, placing ninth in points for the year. Their best showing was on the Top Dragster side of the season opener at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park, losing to Top Sportsman finalist Dan Aitken Jr of Belle River, Ontario.

Crew members for 2013 include Dean Wilson, Frank Wilson, Bob Robinson and Tyler Kawalez. Kaylee Gray has joined the team for this season. Morrison/Everitt Ltd. and Wilson Salvage will be offering sponsorship for the upcoming season.

While Everitt said the dragster is in pieces right now, the team is working on getting it back together and ready for the new engine. The team hopes the new power will provide better results, and Everitt added he thinks he will not have to change his driving style, but he is taking a wait and see attitude right now.

We don’t think we’ll approach driving any differently but we’re not sure yet, he said. But I’m sure I’ll be on my toes the first few passes.
Everitt Racing and the rest of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series teams will be on hand for the season opener May 10-11 at the US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan, one of six events for 2013.

The Quick 32 Sportsman Series www.Quick32.ca will compete at all these events in conjunction with its companion series, the Pro Modified Racing Association, www.PMRA.ca, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series www.PBSS.ca, providing an exciting, colorful, and complete show of the best in drag racing action.
