New paint, new engine, new hopes for Bob Robinson’s Everitt Racing 1938 Chevy

Top Sportsman drag racing team makes major changes for Quick 32 Sportsman Series upcoming season

STRATFORD, ON – Bob Robinson may not be driving a new car in this year’s Quick 32 Sportsman Series, but just Bob Robinsonabout everything has been changed and updated to the 1938 Chevy Top Sportsman car, including the body.

We have changed a lot, said Robinson, who drives the Everitt Racing entry. Basically we have changed the whole car.

After debuting the car two years ago, the team has spent most of the off-season modifying the car, including a new 498-cubic inch all-aluminum Chevy engine with a Pro-Charger setup and alcohol injection. This combination has replaced the 632-cubic inch carburetor/nitrous system and Robinson said he is hoping for a quicker ride down the track.

We are looking to pick it up, he mentioned. We should be faster.

Robinson recorded times in the mid-seven-second range at speeds of up to 185 mph last year.

Along with mechanical changes, the Chevy has received a new paint job, including major changes to the front of the car, such as better sight-lines for the driver and an enhanced appearance.

Tyler Kawalez will stay on as crew chief for the team in 2015, while Jeff Shiell and Dean Wilson will also be a part of the team.

Sponsorship is provided by Morrison/Everitt Limited and the Erie Drive-in Restaurant in Stratford.

Robinson added it has taken some time to get down the track over the past two years, but feels that obstacle has been accomplished, and now he wants to get down the track quicker.

It took a while, but we got the car to go straight down the track, he said. By the end of the year the car was happy, and with this step-up hopefully we can get into the sixes. We are keeping our fingers crossed.

The Quick 32 Sportsman Series, www.Quick32.ca now in its seventh year of operation, competes several times each season with the PBSS, www.PBSS.ca providing an exciting and colorful package of drag racing action.
