MIKE PETERS TAKES $500-TO-WIN SLEDS & BIKES SPECIAL AT LANCASTER
LANCASTER, NY – Mike Peters of Angola, N.Y. scored his third win of the season at Lancaster National Dragway on Friday night as he captured the $500-to-win special for the Hebeler’s Sales Sleds & Bikes class.
Peters claimed victory after Dick Nearhoof left the starting line too soon in the finals and triggered the red light. He is now tied with Alan Fletcher for wins in Bikes & Sleds this season.
The Gasser Racing Series (GRS) made their third visit of the year to Lancaster. Paul Wandt of Tonawanda, N.Y. took the win in GRS Mod thanks to a red light by Lyndsy Payne in the finals. Art Misuraca of Lakeview, N.Y. was victorious in the GRS Gassers aboard his 1934 Ford.
In other Franco’s Pizza Friday Night IHRA action, Robert Weller of Hamburg, N.Y. denied Joe Masullo a second-straight win in Top 8. Weller picked up the win as he narrowly held off Masullo at top end. Wayne Cleveland of Williamsville, N.Y. scored his second win of the season in Mallare Enterprises Top ET over Jason Sobczynski.
Clay Ricketson of East Aurora, N.Y. took the win in McGard Mod ET after a red light by Deanna Nugent in the final round. It’s the eighth win of the season for the Ricketson family in Mod. Nick Morrisey of West Seneca, N.Y. earned his win of the season in Tread City Tire Street ET.
This Friday, August 26 is Truck Night presented by Hunter Truck Sales and Peterbilt Buffalo. There will be special racing classes for dump trucks, semi-trucks, pick-up trucks and SUVs plus a full card of Franco’s Pizza IHRA Drag Racing.
