Mike Knowles’ Mob Edition Mustang takes home Aerospace Components/NHRA Excellence in Engineering Award

Headed to O’Reilly Auto Pats NHRA Spring Nationals Looking for the “Big” Wally

Grand Junction, CO.- At the season opening Amalie Oil Gator Nationals in Gainesville, Florida Mike Knowles and his Mike Knowles’ Aerospace Components/NHRA Excellence in Engineering Award Blown Money team debuted their long awaited Mob edition Mustang to rave reviews from fans, racers, and the NHRA tech department.

The NHRA staff was so taken aback by the quality and attention to detail on the Tim McAmis Race Cars built ride that it was awarded the Aerospace Components/NHRA Excellence in Engineering Award.

The Aerospace Components/ NHRA Excellence in Engineering Award, formerly known as the Best Engineered Car Award, is presented at 12 NHRA Mello Yello Series races in 2015. The prestigious award specific Wally is presented to an individual who brings a unique edge in craftsmanship and technology to each NHRA national event. The award is voted on by the NHRA Tech Department and past winners have included unique chassis builders, drivers that feature distinctive parts and plugs and individuals who work to design and test unique concepts.

“This was a really cool honor for everyone involved in this car. All the people at Tim’s shop, Justin Spencer, who first put the concept to paper, Jeff Hoskins, who did an incredible job on the paint, and my crew for making this one of a kind “Show Car” a true race car. With the new way the award is given out and it’s prestige, it really means a lot to me and the people who were involved with this build. Now it’s time for Howard (Howard Moon) to tune her up so we can go after a “Big Wally”,” joked Knolwes.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA SpringNationals held in Houston, TX the weekend of April 24th-26th will mark the second race for Howard Moon as the tuner for the Blown Money team. Also joining Bart Sunn and Bill Rice on the crew is Mac Burnet. The team has full confidence in the TMRC built machine and with direction from Moon they are hoping for several Wally’s this season.

Each Pro Mod competitor will be afforded three qualifying passes; two on Friday April 24th at 3:30 PM and 6PM and one on Saturday April 25th at 2PM. Eliminations will begin with the first round on Saturday at 5PM. Pro Mod eliminations will continue on Sunday April 26th at 12:15 after the first round of Pro Stock Eliminations.
