Melanie Salemi Motorsports to Race at Toronto Motorsports Park This Weekend

This weekend Melanie Salemi and her 1968 G-Force Race Cars Firebird will head back to her homeland to race for Melanie Salemi - 2016 PDRAthe first time with the NAPA Ultimate Showdowns group. Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario Canada will host the inaugural 1/8 mile race on the NAPA USDS 2016 Schedule.

“I’m looking forward to racing with the USDS group this weekend. I haven’t raced at Cayuga in a few years and it will be nice to be back there again.” Stated Melanie. “This will be the closest race for all of my friends & family to attend and that always makes for a good time at the track” Salemi and her team are hoping to have success at this race. “We have been doing a lot of 1/8 mile racing and we have a pretty good set up that we are confident with, We will just have to see how conditions are and go from there. “ Melanie’s brother-in-law Jim explained.

Recap from PDRA North South Shootout

After qualifying solidly in the top half of the field at the #5 spot Melanie faced Larry Higginbotham in the first round. She pedaled the car to at 4.04 @ 187mph for the win as Larry had experienced more troubles which ultimately disqualified his run. Second round Melanie lined up against Jeremy Ray and his 1963 Corvette.

Reaction times were almost identical Melanie with .033 and Jeremy with .037. Both Cars ran 3.90 @ 192 where Melanie was victorious by .0018 of a second which is only 6” at the stripe. In the semi final John Strickland and Melanie would face off, again Melanie was quicker on the tree but ran a slower 3.93 to Strickland’s 3.85. The points chase narrowed slightly and Melanie finds herself in the #3 spot in the Pro Boost standings after a decent outing in Maryland.
