Mega Mopar Action Weekend Arrives
Plenty of fun for lovers of Hemi horsepower and other cars
MILINGTON, TN – Mega Mopar Action Series weekend has arrived at Memphis International Raceway and there is 
plenty in store for car lovers of all makes and models.
The all-Mopar drag racing is just the tip of the iceberg for the activities scheduled for the Mega Mopar Action Series on Saturday. “There will be a lot of variety this weekend,” said MIR VP and GM Pam Kendrick. “Although Mopars will be in the spotlight, it’s by no means a weekend limited to just those cars. There’s something for everyone to enjoy this weekend.”
It all gets started tonight at Midnight Madness and continues through the day on Saturday, August 1.
The highlight of the weekend will be the racing on Saturday which will feature four trophy classes (Street Mopar, Hemi Challenge, Tuff Truck and Charger vs. Challenger), two bracket classes (electronics and no electronics) and the Mid Central Fuel Altereds making three appearances in their nostalgia racing machines.
But the fun isn’t limited to the drag strip. There will be autocross in the morning and an all-Mopar car show which will feature everything from fresh from the factory modern Dodges to lovingly restored classic Plymouths and Chryslers.
Friday night’s Midnight Madness action opens the competition to the world of cars. There will be an open car show voted on by the Midnight Madness fans, open drag racing that will pit Mustangs vs. Camaros and American Muscle against Import Horsepower. In the mix with that will be the exciting drifting from Traction Optional.
Admission to Friday night’s activities is $20 to race, $10 to watch and children 12 and under are free. Traction Optional will be offering drifting ride-alongs for an additional fee. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. with the track live from 8 p.m. to midnight.
On Saturday, gates open at 8 a.m. With the first on-track activities under way at 8:30 a.m. Spectator admission is $20 for adults, $5 for children 6-12 and kids 5 and under are free.
