MDIR Hosts 6th Annual at Budds Creek Event
MECHANICSVILLE, MD – Maryland International Raceway (MDIR) is set to host its 6th Annual Legends at Budds 
Creek event September 19-20.
The event takes fans and racers alike, a step back in time to experience the thrill of drag racing history. The main event is on Saturday and features AA, BB, CC Nostalgia classes, a Custom Car Show, Celebrity Appearances with the Hall of Fame Inductees, the Wild Bunch, 422 All-Stars Nostalgia Super Stocks, Southern Slingshots, the Pro Stick Association, the “Geezer Race”, and a special match race with Dick Estevez with the “Daddy Warbucks” ’65 Falcon taking on Eric Donovon’s ’65 Pontiac GTO.
The “Craig Hennige” tribute Car Show on Saturday is hosted by the East Coast Pro Street car club and has everything nostalgia you can possibly imagine. The show includes muscle cars to classics, street rods to street machines, customs, pick-ups, vans, alterds, funny cars, Willy’s and more. The main show on Saturday also includes a huge swap meet and great oldies music all day long!
The Sunday weekend finale will feature another race being completed for AA, BB, and CC nostalgia classes as well as the Pro Stick classes and the 422 All-Stars.
Gates open at 8 AM on Saturday with car show registration kicking off the event activates at 9 AM and time runs at 10 AM. Pro exhibition rounds are slated for 2 PM, 4 PM, and 7 PM. Saturday eliminations start at 3 PM. Gates open Sunday also at 8 AM with time runs at 9 AM and eliminations at 12 PM.
“This event has become a great way for MDIR to pay homage to the rich drag racing and car show heritage of the region that so many people grew up with and cherish,” says MDIR Director of Administration and Operations Chris Miller. “The Legends at Budds Creek weekend also serves as a staple event to kick-off our fall finale as we head to the last stretch on the track for ’15 here at MDIR!”
General admission tickets are just $20 per day or $35 for Saturday and Sunday. Juniors (12-15) are $10 per day, Kids (6-11) are $5 per day, and children 5 and under are free.
