MASULLO, BLASER SR., ECKERT, NEARHOFF & KNAB WIN ON FUNNY CAR FRIDAY AT LANCASTER

LANCASTER, NY – Lancaster National Dragway celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Funny Car this past Friday with Funny Car Friday. There were match races between the Alcohol Funny Cars of Vinnie Rastelli and Chris Zagoda and the vintage Funny Cars of Kim McKean and Johnny K.

In Franco’s Pizza Friday Night IHRA Drag Racing action, Joe Masullo of Buffalo picked up his second win of the year in Top 8. Masullo’s rear engine dragster got the win after his opponent, Kenn Dominczak, red light in the final round. He now has three wins overall in 2016 with a win in Top ET as well.

Bill Blaser, Sr. of Cheektowaga, N.Y. took top honors in Mallare Enterprises Top ET. Balser narrowly held off Thomas Fletcher for the win. Dale Eckert earned his fifth win of the season in McGard Mod ET. Eckert beat Clay Ricketson on a double breakout in the finals.

Mike Nearhoof of Youngstwon, N.Y. picked up the win in Hebeler’s Sales Sleds & Bikes. Nearhoof won after Brian Babiak left the starting line early. It was the second week in a row that the Nearhoof family won Sleds & Bikes as his son, Drew Nearhoof, earned his first win the previous week.

Dan Knab of Elma, N.Y. became the seventh different winner of the season in Tread City Tire Street. Knab got take his 2001 Saturn to victory lane after a red light by Cody Winkowski in the finals.

The Buffalo Superchargers rumble back to Lancaster National Dragway this Friday, August 12. They will join the full card of IHRA drag racing. Time trials begin at 5 p.m.
