LANGDON TAKES TOP SPOT IN SEATTLE NHRA QUALIFYING

TORRANCE, CAJust moments after Morgan Lucas had broken the track record with the first 3.7-second run in track history, Shawn Shawn Langdon - courtesy Gary NastaseLangdon absolutely demolished the old mark to take the top spot in qualifying for Sunday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways in Seattle, Wash.

Khalid alBalooshi qualified fourth for the third consecutive race, Morgan Lucas was fifth and Antron Brown placed sixth to give Toyota-sponsored dragsters four of the top six spots in qualifying.  Brandon Bernstein, who won in Seattle in 2005, rounded out the group with a 15th.

Del Worsham led the way in Funny Car with a strong 4.065-second run in his DHL Toyota Camry to earn the number three spot in qualifying.    His teammate Alexis DeJoria also broke into the 4.0s with a 4.099 pass, good for ninth.  Tony Pedregon was 11th and Cruz Pedregon placed 13th.  He will match-up with Worsham in the first round on Sunday.
