LANGDON, KALITTA CAMRYS PACE TOYOTA IN NHRA BRISTOL QUALIFYING

TORRANCE, CA – Shawn Langdon qualified third in Top Fuel, while the Kalitta Motorsports Toyota Camry Funny Toyota LogoCars driven by Del Worsham and Alexis DeJoria placed fourth and fifth to lead Toyota in qualifying for Sunday’s NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at the Bristol Dragway in Bristol, Tenn.

Langdon struggled on the first day of qualifying, but bounced back strong on Saturday – qualifying third in both sessions, peaking with a 3.767-second pass in the fourth run. Following Langdon among the Toyota-sponsored Top Fuel drivers was Antron Brown as the point leader qualified sixth today. He will take on fellow Toyota driver Richie Crampton, who qualified 11th, tomorrow.


Worsham shined all weekend in his DHL Camry, registering three 4.0-second runs, as well as a 4.137-second pass in Friday afternoon’s heat, culminating with a best of 4.006. DeJoria’s 4.025-second run placed her fifth overall. Cruz Pedregon ran a 4.052 second pass on Saturday night, but it was only good enough for 10th in the tight field that saw 11 cars run 4.07 or better. Tony Pedregon qualified 12th and will match up with DeJoria in round one tomorrow. Chad Head, who topped the opening session of the weekend, slipped to 13th on Saturday and faces an opening round match-up with Worsham.

Sunday’s eliminations will be broadcast on ESPN, live beginning at 3 p.m. (all times EDT).
