STAR-STUDDED FIELD ANTICIPATED FOR HIGHLY ANTICIPATED EVENT

LANCASTER, NY – Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway will host it’s biggest Pro-Modified event in over a Mike Janisdecade on Tuesday, June 2 with a $5,000-to-win Pro Mod Shootout presented by G-Force Race Cars and Resolution Racing Services.

The eight fastest Pro-Mods during qualifying will lock into the bracket with the top overall qualifier receiving a $250 bonus courtesy of Grainy’s Automotive of Clarence, NY. The final car standing after the three rounds of eliminations will take home the $5,000 top prize.

“A huge Pro Modified event was something high on our priority list when we were putting together the 2015 schedule,” stated Drag Racing Program Director, Sharon Hughes. “We picked the Tuesday night date to attract teams traveling to the national event in Englishtown, NJ,” Hughes added.

Pro Modified drag racing is very popular in the Northeastern United States with several nationally competing teams based out of Western New York and Southern Ontario. Pro Mod engines can be powered by a supercharger, turbocharger or nitrous oxide, and can generate 2500-4000 horsepower.

Initial response to the event has been very positive from Pro Modified teams in the area. Two-time Pro Modified world champion, Mike Janis of Lancaster, NY, will be headlining the field in his Jan-Cen Racing Engines 2013 Chevrolet Camaro. Janis is one of the winningest Pro Modified drivers of all-time and currently ranks sixth in 2015 NHRA national points.

Additional drivers confirmed for the event include: Mike Stawicki of Medina, NY, Randy Jewell of Holley, NY, Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario, The Grainy Brothers of Clarence, NY, Bob Bauer of Elma, NY, Sam Christian of Buffalo, NY and Ron Szewczyk of Lackawanna, NY.

In addition to the winner’s share of the purse, the runner-up will pocket $2,000. Qualified cars will take home a minimum of $250 with a first round lost, and $1,000 for getting to the semi-finals. There is no entry fee for Pro Modified cars with a driver and three crew members.

Supporting the Pro Modified event will be a Box/No-Box Shootout for weekly Franco’s Pizza Friday Night IHRA drag racers. Winners in each class will take home a $1,000 top prize, with $500 to runners up and $125 for semi-finalists. Entry fee for the Box/No-Box race is $50, and drivers can buyback after the first round for $25.

Pit gates will open for competitors at 3 PM with time trials beginning at 5 PM and Pro Mod qualifying starting at 6 PM. Eliminations are scheduled to start around 7 PM. Grandstand gates will open at 5 PM with an all-access pass available for just $20.
