LANCASTER NATIONAL DRAGWAY RELEASES 2017 SCHEDULE

Two huge Street Outlaws shows highlight preliminary slate of events

LANCASTER, NY – While a blanket of white covers the Western New York area, the management of Lancaster National Dragway has visions of burnouts and fast cars dancing in their heads with the release of the 2017 season schedule. This is the preliminary list of events with more to be added once finalized.

Weekly Friday night IHRA Drag Racing will take place from May to September featuring four weekly classes of competition (Mallare Enterprises Top ET, McGard Mod ET, Hebeler’s Sales Bikes & Sleds and Tread City Tire Street), plus a wide-ranging variety of special events.

Lancaster is increasing the general admission adult front-gate price for regular Friday night events from $7 to $8 in 2017, however, special event prices will remain the same.

The 2017 season kicks off on Friday, April 28 with tech inspection and a test n’ tune session. IHRA points will begin for all weekly classes on May 5.

The biggest event of 2016 at the 1/8-mile dragstrip was the stars of the reality show “Street Outlaws” taking on the Buffalo Street Outlaws in the first edition of the 716 vs. 405. Kamikaze Chris will return to Lancaster in 2017 looking to avenge his defeat last year on Friday, June 30 in the Revenge of the 716 vs. 405.

The popular Buffalo Street Outlaws will make a total of seven appearances at Lancaster in 2017. BSO will defend their home turf on Saturday, July 22 in a special event titled “Thunderdome: BSO vs. The World.” Thunderdome will feature the Buffalo Street Outlaws taking on teams of invading street legal racers from other states and regions.

Other returning fan-favorite events include the yearly Memorial Day weekend visit from Al Hanna’s Jet Funny Cars on May 26. The annual Nitro Night of Fire presented by A-Verdi Storage Containers will take place on July 14. Last year’s Nitro Night was highlighted by Todd Paton resetting the track E.T. and speed records with his Top Fuel Dragster.

A special Thursday night show has been added on June 21 to serve as the kick off to the recently acquired Niagara Swap Meet & Car Show, All four weekly classes plus Junior Dragsters and BSO Real Street will be in action.

Lancaster’s Sunday Nostalgia Weekend moves back to the first weekend of August this season.. The weekend gets going on Friday, August 4 with the regular IHRA drag racing program plus a Nostalgia Eliminator class and the Buffalo Street Outlaws. Saturday’s events will include the third annual Lancaster National Dragway Hall of Fame induction ceremony and dinner. Sunday will feature a full day of racing, including the new Modern Muscle class for cars from 1981-1997, and the infield car show.

The late season schedule is highlighted by Alcohol Funny Cars on August 11 and Big Rig Night presented by Hunter Truck Sales/Peterbilt of Buffalo on August 25. Big Rig Night will include semi-trucks and dump trucks competing in their own special class.

The 2017 season will conclude on Friday, September 30 with the final points night for all classes.

Tuesday Test n’ Tune nights start on May 16 and run through September 12. Amateur drag racing, Junior Dragsters and Senior Nostalgia are also a part of the early week fun.

Lancaster’s popular Wednesday Cruise Nights will begin on May 3 and run through September 13 with admission remaining free for 2017. Come show off your ride or take it down the 1/8-mile dragstrip to find out who is fastest in your crew.

Racers are invited to register for the 2017 season on Friday, March 10 at Magruder’s Pub on Broadway in Depew from 6-9 p.m. Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway will also have a booth at the Cavalcade of Cars show at the Hamburg Fairgrounds March 3-5 and the Buffalo Motorama March 24-26 at the Buffalo Convention Center.
