Johnny Pluchino Unveils Special ‘Mobile Incinerator’ Tribute Livery on Mountain Motor Pro Stock Mustang

NORWALK, OH – Reigning Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage NHRA Mountain Motor Pro Stock world champion Johnny Pluchino turned heads Friday morning at Summit Motorsports Park with the unveiling of a tribute livery on his Ross Environmental Services ’13 Ford Mustang. Unveiled before qualifying began at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, the special-edition wrap honors the Ross Environmental Services “Mobile Incinerator” ’73 Mustang driven by Bill Cromling II in the 1980s. Pluchino enters Norwalk, the home race for the Cromling family and Ross Environmental Services, leading the points in Mountain Motor Pro Stock competition.

Headquartered in Elyria, Ohio, Ross Environmental Services Inc. has been a pioneer in hazardous and industrial waste management since 1949. Using state-of-the-art technologies and superior customer service, Ross protects the environment and provides a full spectrum of professional environmental services.

Pluchino first partnered with Ross Environmental Services late in 2024 as he was wrapping up his world championship season. Ross expanded its support to become Pluchino Racing’s primary sponsor for the 2025 season. That’s when Pluchino and Ross President Bill Cromling III discussed the potential for a tribute livery for the Norwalk event. Driving the “Mobile Incinerator” ’73 Mustang, Bill Cromling II won track championships at Norwalk in the ‘80s and early ‘90s. The car is still in the family’s possession and provided design inspiration for Pluchino’s modern version, which was wrapped by Victory Vinyl.
“It’s an honor to help Bill honor his father with this special wrap,” Pluchino said. “Racing is a father-son thing for my dad and I too, so it’s a perfect fit. We’ve only known the Cromling family and the Ross team for a little while now, but I realized very quickly that they’re a passionate family-based team just like us. With their support, we’ve become stronger as a team this season and we’re doing everything we can to defend that championship. A win at Norwalk surrounded by the Cromling family and their associates would be another major highlight for the season.”

The Cromling father-son duo, family, and friends were on hand Friday morning to see the car for the first time. The original “Mobile Incinerator” Mustang, powered by a 604ci Ford, will also be on display in the Pluchino Racing pit area all weekend.

“This is a huge surprise for my dad – he had no idea we were doing this,” Cromling III said. “He knew we were sponsoring the Pluchino family’s car, but that’s about it. He could not be more excited about this weekend. When I told him we might want to display the car for the race weekend, he ordered new tires for it that afternoon. It’s a big deal for him.”

Cromling II last raced at Norwalk 34 years ago. Though he won’t be driving his Mustang down the track this weekend, it will be a sentimental moment for the whole family to see Pluchino’s version of the “Mobile Incinerator” Mustang racing down the historic Summit Motorsports Park quarter mile.

“My dad was fairly successful racing here,” Cromling III said. “He went to the Bracket World Finals a couple times and was a class champion. He enjoyed his time racing at Norwalk and the Bader family was always good to the racers – they continue to be to this day. My dad just put a lot of work into this car and made it really nice. Reliving those memories with my dad and my brother, Jon, and our whole family this weekend is really exciting. We’ve enjoyed being a part of the Pluchino family’s program this year and we’re looking forward to spending the weekend with them and some of our associates.”

Pluchino’s additional sponsors – Kelling Equipment Repair, Ram Clutches, Kaase Racing Engines, AED Competition, Feather-Lite Batteries, New York Boom Trucks Inc., S-K Speed, Maxima Racing Oil, Hoosier Tire, and Combined Auto Body – are also represented in the new look.

The Mountain Motor Pro Stock schedule for the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals includes qualifying sessions at 1 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday. First round of eliminations is set for Saturday at 6:15 p.m., with eliminations continuing on Sunday.
