Elma, NY– Mike Janis and his WidoMaker Pro Mod team are headed to Indianapolis for the NHRA Unleashed event at O’Reilly Raceway Park on August 6th and 7th, 2010.
NHRA Unleashed is a new motorsports experience, providing a venue for some of the best Heads-Up Dooorslammer action on the planet.
NHRA Unleashed drag racing activities include everything from a heads-up 8.5 second class to a 13 second class, as well as Outlaw 10.5, Limited Street, EZ Street and Modified Street topped off with 2,500 horsepower Pro Modifieds.
Off the track fans can run their own vehicle against the clock on an autocross course, hook up their ride to an onsite Chassis Dyno, or hit the show and shine area.
Drag racing has always been a family sport and NHRA Unleashed has taken that to a new level with interactive activities for the entire family including a Kids Zone with inflatables and other children’s activities.
“When I first heard about this event I just thought it would be a great opportunity to test before the nationals, but the more I learn about it the more excited I am to be a part of it,” said Mike Janis. “Not only is it geared towards die hard Doorslammer fans it’s also an economical event for families to attend. I’m looking forward stretching the legs of the WidowMaker and meeting all the fans.”
Pro Modifieds will receive one qualifier on Friday and two more on Saturday with eliminations to be held Saturday night under the lights.
NHRA Unleashed will be featured nationwide, this fall, on Fox Sports Net. Two half-hour shows will be produced from each of the four NHRA Unleashed events, including the one at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis. The shows will be hosted by Steve Watson and Sarah Karges and produced by Disrupt/ive Studios, producers of Pinks, Pinks All Outtakes and Pinks All Out.
The next race for the Elma, NY based team will be the NHRA 56th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals held September 1st though the 6th at the very same track that this weeks event is held. At the Nationals Janis will debut his new “Hero” cards featuring a paper doll version of his WidowMaker Ford Mustang. (See Photo)
